o you have a surgery date or are you waiting for
approval from the insurance company? Usually after
approval from the insurance it is just a matter of when
the doctor can schedule you. Some time the insurance
co. require different approches before they will
approve the procedure. The first time for me the
insurance co. denied mine and requested that I get
nurtritional counceling for 3 months, not like I haven’t
already tried that. Mean while I had some other problems
and with all the test that were done the insurance
approved it. Hand in there it’s worth the wait, you can do
it.
Corinna

y second appt.with the doctor who will do the
operation is 3-30-99.Dr.SPAUDING said that they will tell
me when she will do the surgery , I hope.My appt.
today was about the sleep study& Dr.GANNON said I have
a small amount of sleeep apenia & surgery should
help that 100%.
P.S. thanks for your reply

he doctor is right the surgery will take care of
you sleep apenia. That is because of the weight you
will lose. If you have sleep apenia the insurance
should except your surgery, because sleep apenia can be
dangerous. Let me know when your surgery date is scheduled,
I’ll help keep you pumped!! Will help with what ever I
can. Corinna

hanks for your words of support….can certainly
use them right now. I also worked for the hospital
that I will have the surgery at. I know a nurse and a
female doctor who have had this done. I also know
someone who just had it done 4-5 weeks ago and so far
everyone has had good results.

hi, everyone i finally got my surgery date a
couple of weeks ago. then last wed. my boss tells me i
need to wait until after the 1st of the year due to
others request for medical procedures. i told her i
really didn’t want to because it has taken almost a year
just for referrals and appointments to get a set date.
although the insurance only took two days to approve.
today the dedcided to support my decision after all
i’ve been an outstanding employee for 12 1/2 yrs. so
my surgery is on and through the hurdles unless
something else comes up, nov 15. thanks for the well
wishes. lisa f.

Well, 2 days until I’m on the "other side". Feeling some uneasiness
but at church yesterday was annoited and received many prayers of
support. I’m praying that God will be with the surgeons as he
performs the surgery and with the nurses and the support staff at St.
Vincent’s for all of us going through this new journey.
Thanks to all for your e-mails and good luck to everyone having this
new experience.

Hi Michelle,
Congrats on getting your date! and best of luck. I
look forward to the day I can post and say I have
received a date for surgery. Just in my area here in
Canada, there are so few surgeons that do WLS that the
wait for an initial appt is long.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Michelle, congradulations. I had my surguery on 8-12. So far I
have lost 75 pounds. Don’t worry about medications, you probably
will crush them as I do. Drink water and ice chips when ermitted,
walk as much as is comfortable. There is pain but it goes away as
you lose weight. Everything becomes easier. Get to love sugar free
jello, it really does help. Stay close to your dr and dieticiain.
You will be home for Christmas with a new great you.

Congrats, Deb! You do have a lot to do! Have you thought about what you’re
taking to the hospital? What to have at the house already when you come
home?
