Welcome! What kind of support can we offer ? <G>
BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the list (who celebrates
Thanksgiving).

I have a question.... I've fried a turkey before, but does anyone know
how to fry Rock Cornish Game Hens? How long at what temp?

Which state are you in? Varies from state to state. I have Federal BCBS
and mine was covered with no problem.

Hello,

I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Sanchez in early february. Wanted
to say hello. Any blue cross PPO members here? How long did they
take to give approval? I am scheduled for surgery but concerned about
BC PPO approval as I cannot afford to self pay. Thanks.

Hi, Kay – Welcome! Congrats! Do you have any idea when your surgery will
be? Who is your doctor? I’m in Florida, too, but up near Pensacola. Had my
surgery in Atlanta. Excellent surgeon, but I wasn’t really hot on his
aftercare. When is your wedding? Does your fiancé support your weight
loss? I know, lots of questions!!!! <G> Welcome to the group.

Hi Everyone,
I am sort of a new member but I have never posted yet. I just got a
call today that I can get the surgery. I weight over 300 lbs and I am
getting married soon but I don't want to be fat when I do. My name is
Kay and I live in Florida. I have been fat all my life and I don't want
<!--more-->
to be that way any more. I have my first appointment on December 27 and
I am kind of scared because I don't know what to expect. I hope that
everything will go ok when I have my surgery.
Kay

Dear Kay:

The most difficult part is over. You have made the decision to take control
of your life. Not long ago I was in your shoes. I was 43 years old, nearly 400
pounds and very unhealthy. Now nearly six months later I am 140 pounds lighter,
free from diabetes and sleep apnea and living the life I had only dreamed of. I
too am in Florida, in the Southeast region near Ft Lauderdale. I was blessed to
find a truly gifted surgeon who placed his patients care over everything else.
I'm a new man today because of this wonderful process. Take it one day at a
time and you'll be fine. Keep in touch.

Wow, too bad we didn't talk there. I did meet one other person who
had the lap band, same day as I did. How did you like your stay at
El Camino? I have a difeeferent viewpoint, because I am in health
care... but no grave concerns.

How important are the support groups? Anyone....

Hello all,

I am a 50 yr old gramdma, at my highest weight ever I was 278, ideally
I felt great at 180. I had my lap band on Nov 16th at El Camino in Mt
View, CA. Thus far I am doing OK, I suppose. Has anyone on this
group had a lap band? Am I supposed to feel full all the time at this
point (4 days post op), and what should I expect in the way of
healing? Currently I have a large very red area (mainly in pre
exixting stretch marks) below the port site with yellowish bruising
closer to the incision site. So far eating has not been an issue,
except I feel I cannot get enough liquid in within the day. I am so
glad there is a chat site available, hope to hear soon. Linda

I actually started dialing in to work on the computer the day after I got home
from the hospital and went back to the office at the 2 week mark, even though
Dr. Foster would prefer the full three weeks. I was pretty tired that first
week at work, so I went to bed early every night and actually napped during my
lunch every day. Feeling just fine now.

Jen

Jen,
Thanks so much for responding, I have been so nervous, Unlike you , I have
never been in the hospital before, so I have been very scard, you have made me
feel more at ease.
Are you up and around, Dr Foster tells me I will be back to work in 3 weeks?
I was hoping for alonger vacation..but she said noway...I go to see her this
Friday. Keep me posted on your progress, It is so exciting.
<!--more-->
Thanks,
Lynn
