I’m Home

‘ve missed everone since I’ve been sick. I got
my staples out Friday and got sick over the weekend
and found myself in the hospital ER Sunday night and
back in the hospital Monday for an infection. I wasn’t
able to eat or drink anything and was dehydrated. By
Wednesday I was on my way back home and feeling much
better, able to eat and drink now. I hope to catch up on
all the messages. I missed the group.
Corinna

orinna
sorry to hear you were ill, but glad
you are doing better. Best wishes to a fast recover.
I am scheduled for the R-N-Y on May 14, and I can’t
hardly wait to start living a normal life as a thin
person again. Take every thing easy.
Donna

orinna, Glad that you are feeling better, was
the infection from your surgery? I am leaving tuesday
March 30th and having WLS on March 31th. SO how is
everything else going for you?
Keep us
posted.

Take care,
Kim

‘m glad you’re home a doing better. I hadn’t
seen you here in awhile and had hoped you were doing
all right. I hope the rest of your journey is good
and all "down hill"….take care and God
bless.
Wendy

im, Good Luck with everything I know you will do
fine. As far as the infection; is was possible that it
may be from when they opened the intestine. Since we
all know that the intestine is not the cleanest there
may have been bacteria that caused the infection. It
is a rare episode, but leave it to me for it to
happen to. Murphys Law you know. I’m just taking one day
at a time and looking forward to the new me. Corinna

Hello everyone…I’m home from surgery. Had it
done on the 1st came home yesterday on the 5th. Its
been rough…gosh I never knew I’d be THIS WEAK. Guess
like you all however I will slowly one day at a time
get through this. Thank goodness for my husband…I
couldnt do this without him. I’ll give ya more surgery
details once I am more up to sitting here longer. Take
care and thanks for everything!!

Welcome to the "other side" Debra! The next
couple of weeks will be slow for you but take advantage
of anyone that is willing to help you out. You won’t
be able to do the simpilest of things and don’t
force yourself too soon. As embarrassing as it sounds,
I don’t know what I would have done without my
husband to help me out with common personal hygiene
stuff! Thankfully I only needed his help for about 4
days after coming home from the hospital in that
area….LOL
But I wasn’t able to do any cooking, housework,
walking the dogs or even bend over for the first 2 weeks.
Anyway, get as much rest as you can and if you feel like
sleep (and I’m sure you will) then just sleep. Remember
your body needs to heal, so be good to yourself and
listen to what it’s telling you! I’m 43 years young so I

know what you mean about the 40 something! These ol’
bodies don’t bounce back quite a quickly as they used
to….
The good news is that I’m 12 weeks post op now and
feel wonderful! I have so much more energy than I even
can remember having in a very long time! I’m down 63
pounds and 37 inches off my body and I’m still having
problems seeing myself a "thinner person"…. oh, don’t
get me wrong, I’ve got A LOT more weight to lose but
I know I’ll get there! I can honestly say the first
6 weeks were horrible for me but once I got past
the 6 week point it was like something in me changed
and things just kept getting better and better. So
whatever you go through now, just keep thinking like you
already said….one day at a time, first slow steps and
then you’ll be up and running in no time! Congrats and
God bless!
Wendy…Clearfield, UT

I am so happy for you. I bet you are starting to
feel a little better. :)
Thank you for the note of
encouragement. I appreciate it greatly!
I went for my pre-op
stuff today. I am all registered and everything is
taken care of. I have 6 days left. Oh’ my goodness. I
am so excited… sometimes I just want to scream. I
guess I will wait until the pain comes for that. :)
The anesthisiologist said that I can have an epidural
instead of a med. pump after the surgery. (that way I can
nurse without worrying if Elijah will receive any of
the meds) I am happy about that.
Anyway…
So… how did everything go? Did you have any
complications? I am so happy for you. You have a wonderfully
supportive husband. I think that is the one thing that I am
going to be so greatful for is my hubby. He will be

watching my kids… bringing Elijah to the hospital to
nurse.. and watching the kids I usually babysit(only
two). What would we do without our wonderful men?
:)
Congratulations again on your succesful surgery! Good luck in
your future! God Bless,
Lisa
RNY scheduled

Hi debra,
I’m a few days behind here but i
wanted to echo the advice and sentiments of so many. I’m
so happy that you finally got it done. Please take
it easy these first few weeks, the last thing i want
to hear is of you getting hurt. Your hubby will be
your biggest help and your greatest comfort. Let him
be there for you and your every need, dont’ try to
do too much. listen to your body, when it tells you
it is time to go to sleep, go to bed. Congrats
again.
George
