Regarding the pre-op diet
ood morning to everyone.
I seen the dietican
last Monday. She stated the reason for the liquid diet
before surgery is to help the liver to shrink and help
make the intestines to be more flexable. If this is
correct I don’t really know. I have to be on the diet for
2 weeks prior to surgery. she also gave me a diet
to follow for 6 months after surgery. The first 3
weeks you are on a liquid diet, with adding in sugar
free/low fat yogurt, and sugar free pudding made with skim
milk, and still on the Carnation Instant Breakfast or
Promote. The diet also gives you what times you are to
drink or eat. Was also given a grocery list of items I
will need for the first couple of weeks after surgery,
when to start the vitamin regimen. Because of me being
lactose intolerence, I am to use Lactaid milk or drops.
In the packet that she gave me there was even a
recipe to use for constipation. If you are interested in
this recipe let me know and I will posted it for
everyone. Just reading everything everyone has posted has
helped alot. I can hardly believe I am doing this for
the 3rd time. My surgeron states that this will be
the last surgery I will ever need for weight loss. He
stated that what I weigh 1 year fro surgery will be
wwhat I will weigh for the rest of my life. My heart
goes out to everyone that has the surgery and those
that are waiting for approval or surgery
date.

Donna
Pre-op 226
Surgery is 5-14-99
Dr.
