i Annie, this is just what my doctor states. I'm
sure there are MANY opinions about this subject with
each surgeon. My surgeon, Dr. G. Goodman, states that
the body cannot identify sugar as opposed to sugar
substitutes and neither have any food value to them. He
perfers we get calories from natural sources such as
fruit and very limited with those. We will of course
get some natural sugars with the juices we drink but
I have to drink them diluted by 10 parts that any
amount of sugar in them isn't going to bother me.
I
was also told by my surgeon the aspertame (nutra
sweet, etc) is not good for me in any form so I need to
try and stay away from it. Now this could just be for
my first 90 days of post-op care and since I'm only
4 days post-op I'll learn much more a little

later....sorry I couldn't tell you any more about this...but I'm
sure there are many other post-ops here that have a
multitude of info on this subject. Take care...
Wendy
