It’s good to be back, been a rough coupl
i to all my special friends and all the new
comers. Sorry I ditched on everyone a while back but life
was getting pretty overwhelming and I needed a break
to get myself "back together". Not that I’m any
better as far as getting back together but at least my
depression has subsided!
I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op
now from my RNY on 4-14.
I saw my surgeon on the
29th of April and he could see the obvious depression
and other problems I was suffering from without me
even mentioning it, he’s a good doctor! So he
perscribed something for depression which also helps me
sleep better at night, however I seem to live on
compazine (anti-naseau drug) daily. I was doing fairly well
with eating limited foods for the first 2 weeks but
starting about 10 days ago I started suffering from
dehydration and constant no stop naseau (and it was
bad!)Nothing agreed with me and for about one week I wasn’t
consuming any food except occasional broth (yes, that made
me sick too). I was eventually admitted back to the
hospital on last Monday for fluids and tons of blood work,
that was NO FUN! By Tuesday it was decided I needed a
feeding tube to allow my stomach to heal and get over the
constant naseau.
Well, I was none to excite about that
and I’ve worried and whined about that for days. I
was suppose to go in today to have the tube placed
but I CHICKENED OUT and decided I will FORCE myself
to drink and eat, whatever it takes to not have that
tube put in!
Well, a little more promising news!
I’ve lost right around 31 pounds since my surgery and
I went to see my PCM today and I don’t need my HBP
medications anymore! Too cool, right! The only thing my PCM
was even slightly concerned about was, of course, my
dehydration! So please, please,
please all you pre ops
learn to drink lots and lots of fluids! I’ve never been
one to drink a lot of water or fluids so I’m learning
the hard way now, believe me you will need every
ounce of fluid you can get down. And as all us post ops
we all know it’s difficult at times because we can’t
just guzzle fluids, it has to be taken in small
sips…not easy to get 64 oz. a day when you can only sip!
(at least for me!)
Well, friends I’ll sign off
here, I’ve rattled on long enough! Good luck to all you
pre ops and I missed all my dear friends! Take care
and God bless.
Wendy…Clearfield, UT
open RNY
