Sugar Dumping

ust wanted to let everyone know that even after
almost two years after having surgery….I still do
stupid things. We went away for the weekend and my
husband tried to be nice and bought me a big gooey cherry
sweet roll. Of course, I had to eat it….old habits
die hard. But, just so everyone will know….I also
spent Saturday night throwing up in the bathroom. These
sweet items are just NOT worth it, but like I said old
habits die hard. Someday I will learn. Wendy:
Congratulations on your 30+ pounds of weight loss. Isn’t it
great!!! Good luck and best wishes to everyone. Helen

elen, Just curious….does every item that has
sugar in it make you throw up…or was this roll just
particularly sugary? I love sweets and feel that this will be
a big problem for me…I hope I learn to resist
temptation, but I havent yet so I most likely will push my
luck as well. I go to the doctor on Thursday so I will
let everyone know what I find out.

i Debra, I read your post to Helen about the
dumping syndrome…..no fun believe me! I dumped for the
first time on Boost (liquid supplement requested by my
doctor) even with it dulited I still dumped from it!
YUCKO…..and I’m only three and a half weeks post op (I dumped
last week) You must become a serious lable reader once
you’ve had this surgery to make sure you’re not getting
too much of ANY FORM of SUGAR, dextrose, fruitose, to
name a couple. My doctor gives me guide lines that a
product may contain 7 grms of sugar per serving or less.
I also have to be very careful with sugar
substitutes because the body does not know the differenct
between regular sugars and sugar substitutes, so please
be careful with that as well.
Finally to your
"addiction" to sweets….I too share that problem. I hate it

when KitKat or Mounds bar commercials are on tv, they
drive me nuts! But I know the cravings will eventually
go away in time. I didn’t put myself through this
painful surgery to give into these silly cravings and
risk everything I’ve fought for. Don’t be fooled into
thinking that once you have the surgery that you instantly
change! It takes time and hard work and dedication, but
if you REALLY want this to work for you then you’ll
find something new to replace those old
addictions!
I have friends that have had this same surgery,
only over a year ago, and they "test the waters" every
now and again by eating one herseys kiss or 2 m &
m’s….and trust me they are paying for today because they
crave the junk again and are having problems
maintaining their weight now.
Well, thats it for now, as
usually I’ve gone on too long!…LOL
Good luck with
your up coming doctor’s visit!
Wendy

o, not everything with sugar makes me sick. This
sweet roll was a real gooey, frosting coated one. I
should have known better. I can eat a sweet roll as long
as it doesn’t have any frosting and the same with a
plain donut. I can eat Oreos minus the creme filling
and cake minus the sicky frosting. Brownies do make
me nauseous, however. I have sort of boiled it down
to anything that is chocolate makes me sick. I have
found a sherbert ice cream sets better than a creamy
chocolate ice cream. I still try to watch my calorie intake
however. But temptation is still so hard. I have always
loved sweets. Throwing up in the bathroom is no way to
spend a weekend away, so I behaved myself all day
Sunday. I am going away again on the 21st for the weekend
and I will certainly behave myself then also. Thanks

for asking.
