I’m still here, just lurking
i all, Just thought I’d let you all know how I’m
doing at 6 weeks post op. Sorry I haven’t posted much
lately, but just to let you know I visit here almost
every day but I just sort of lurk in the
background!….LOL Welcome to all the newcomers! So many new names
here!
Well, where do I begin? I suppose good news would be
better to start with, right? As of the 22nd of May (just
over 5 weeks post op) I’ve lost 40 pounds. I can’t
begin to keep up with the inches lost and the change in
clothing sizes is fun (but getting expensive too!)
However, I’ve been sick the entire time this is all taking
place and it’s getting down right discouraging to be
sick all the time. My doctor is at his wits end with
me too, not to mention his nurse whom I feel like I
have a direct telephone line to! I have to check in
with the doctor every 4-5 days to report how I’m
doing. He wanted to put a feeding tube in since I’m not
tolerating much in the way of solid foods (to boot, I’m
lactose intolerant!) so getting the required proteins
into me is increasingly difficult. I cringed at the
thought of a feeding tube and cancelled that appointment
so my doctor is still trying to encourage me to have
that done (I know, I’m my own worst enemy!).
Then
he suggested I have the "scope" put down to check
for ulcers…yikes that’s almost as scarey as the
feeding tube! He’s under the impression that either the
staple line is irratated or where the anastimosis is
healing (swollen). Man, can’t they do something besides
sticking something down my throat to figure that
out?!……LOL
Oh well…sorry to go on for so long! I hope the
rest of you post op’s are having better luck than I’m
having! And for all you pre-op’s…..please make sure you
get yourself "educated" to what life is going to be
like after surgery! The life style changes can be
pretty drastic but please do remember the "end results"
are well worth it all!
I hope everyone is
well!
God bless,
Wendy….Clearfield, UT
Dr. Gerald
