Hi everyone…

‘m new to the club, and until a few months ago
new to the idea of obesity surgery. I’m 22 yrs old,
5′9 and I weight approx. 295lbs. I have been
overweight for about 20 of my 22 years, and have always had
to live with the social aspects of being overweight,
but now I am starting to experience increased
physical problems as well. I haven’t seen my family dr
about this, and I’m not really sure how she will
respond to the idea of weight loss surgery. I live in BC
Canada, and must be referred to a specialist by my family
dr. I do not like going to the dr much, and I have
only seen her twice since she became my dr a year ago,
and in this time, it has never been for anything
weight related. I have made many attempts at losing
weight on my own in the past years, from dieting,

cutting fat intake, starving, and excerising. But I have
never, since I was young went to a doctor about losing
weight because I always felt bad if I wasn’t making any
improvements. Can anyone help me with ways to tell my dr that
this is what I want, and get her to see it my way. I
have made a list to give her of my problems due to my
weight — both physical and emotionally. Also, does
anyone know what medical programs in Canada accept this
type of surgery, or where on the web I can find info
of this surgery in Canada?

thank
you
Lisa*~
