bad luck! But this is my news…I got my call on
Tuesday that my insurance approved my surgery! YEAH
Now I have to get everything set up with the
surgeon…I am hoping for the first week of July. Of course I

First let me say sorry for not posting much lately. Things around here have
been WILD.
This weekend I hit my 5 month post op…WOOHOO..Boy how time flies.
A couple of interesting things are going on with me.
1st. within the last month i have become lactose intolerant. Took me 2 days
of milk to figure out thats what caused the pains but I have figured it out.
The first night I ate some vanilla wafers and milk and i was doubled over in
pain crying it hurt so bad…i eventually was able to straighten up and lay down
and got TERRIBLE gas and then i was much better! Did that 2 nights in a row
before I figured out what the problem was…LOL
2nd. My hair is falling out something HORRIBLE. Hopefully it will stop soon.
3rd I am almost to my THIRD mini goal. Can you believe it? here is a little
run down of my mini goals.
Day of surgery 365
1st mini goal under 300
2nd mini goal to loose 100#’s
3rd mini goal under 250
I know im crazy but i figure the mini goals will help me get to the BIG goal
a little easier.
Anyway I am 5 pounds away from my 3rd mini goal..>WOOOHOOOO
Well thats it for me.
THanks & hope every one is doing ok.

Sounds like you’re coming along, Crystal! Giving up milk will
probably be better for you in the long run.. particularly if you
give up the vanilla wafers, too <G>. But we all do test the waters,
don’t we <G>. Hairloss, if you’re going to have it, usually occurs
from 3-7 months, and once you’re in it the loss is hair that died
some time ago, so other than being sure your protein levels are in
good shape and maybe taking some biotin, there’s not much you can do
but ride it out. I lost very little with my GBS, but am losing more
from my plastics, which I had in December. I’m guessing your doc
will be doing bloodwork in another month or so, you’ll be able to
get a better handle on where you are nutritionally. Congrats on
getting to your 3rd minigoal!

Hi Pam,
What percentage of those who have the surgery need skin removed? I am about 300
pounds and my goal is 145. I am still fighting for disability but hope the wait
will be soon over.
Thanx,
Yvonne

Depends, of course, on your age and your skin’s ability to "snap back" - I
lost 100 lbs at 44, and didn’t require any surgery - just had the beginning of
those crepey lines under my neck. But at 57, there was no way that my skin
would snap back. I would guess that a great many of us *want* surgery, but I
don’t have the exact figures. Wanting it and needing it because the redundant
skin causes infections and rashes and impaired functionality are two different
things. <sigh>

I made "MINI GOALS" too. So girl don’t think that idea is crazy..LOL
I started at 280lbs before surgery. I am now 225lbs and my goal
weight is 140lbs…So, my mini goal for may is to lose the 25lbs.
Wish me luck!!

Hello, all! it has been a while since I have posted, thank you all
for your support, I appreciate it so much. I had my surgery nov
17th 2003, my highest weight was 286 as of today, may the 5th
2004, I am down to 194 I feel so much better, I can’t describe it. I
have lost 92 pounds in 5 months. I am so happy. I wanted to tell
you all about something I found that I enjoy so much, thought
you might like to try it too. At smart and final thet have sugar free
flavorings called TORANI it comes in what looks like a wine
bottle, they are 3.99 each. they have caramel, english toffee,
strawberry, vanilla, hazlenut, and others, they are so good, I
bought a sno cone machine, for $14.00 at rite aide, and there
are no calories, or sugar. Thought you might like to try it with the
hot weather coming. well, I hope everyone is doing good, I am
feeling ok, just having a hard time not drinking with my meals, I
get so thirsty. I still can’t eat very much, what a god send. Thank
You all for the support, take care, Betty
