Down But Not Out? yet?

Tuesday, March 11th, 2003

HHHH! I am so sad. I feel so lost and so alone.
I went to my wls seminar yesterday only to find out
that there are continual problems with Anthem Blue
Cross and Blue Shield to approve WLS! Only five people
have been approved from my doctor’s office in the last
year here in Ohio. I am going to have to jump through
hoops, find proof that I was in a supervised weight loss
program, though Physician’s Weight Loss Center is no
longer in business, and prove that I have some sort of
medical condition (even though I am as healthy as a
horse). I am suicidally depressed. If I can’t get this
surgery, what can I do? I am doomed!

i to all my special friends and all the new
comers. Sorry I ditched on everyone a while back but life
was getting pretty overwhelming and I needed a break
to get myself "back together". Not that I’m any
better as far as getting back together but at least my
depression has subsided!
I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op
now from my RNY on 4-14.
I saw my surgeon on the
29th of April and he could see the obvious depression
and other problems I was suffering from without me
even mentioning it, he’s a good doctor! So he
perscribed something for depression which also helps me
sleep better at night, however I seem to live on
compazine (anti-naseau drug) daily. I was doing fairly well
with eating limited foods for the first 2 weeks but
starting about 10 days ago I started suffering from

I have my referral!!!!

Sunday, March 9th, 2003

i everyone;

I went today to my family
doctor who knows how I’ve tried to lose weight so
without hesitation she is making me a referral to see a
surgeon and thinks it is a wise decision. She was
impressed that I found out so much about it without asking
first…..you are all to thank for that…so a great big "thank
you" for all the input on these posts….you may not
think of what you or who you are helping when posting
so kept it going….the good the bad and the
ugly!!!…..Bob and Donna time is getting closer..I’m so anxious
for you guys and you are in my prayers….keep us
posted…have a great day….love and hugs Shirley

Hi to all

Sunday, March 9th, 2003

have been away for about a week and was sorry
to hear about Wendy, I hope all is well with her.
Welcome to all the new members, I am so glad to see you
all. I have had my share of "bad" things happen to me
since my surgery. I have had an incision infection
twice, which was treated easily, but I would not change
my decision at all. My weight was 246 before surgery
and many health problems to go along with the weight.
The biggest problem was breathing, asthma, and since
the day of the surgery I have not had any problem
breathing. My surgery (RNY) was March 4, 1999; I am 9 weeks
post-op and have lost 55 pounds. I can’t remember the
last time I weighed only that much, I think it was 5
years ago when I started gaining. I am feeling great
and my surgian has been more supportive than I could

or thinking that the bad stuff would even stop
me! I think I would sell my soul to the devil or walk
on hot coals for this! My first seminar is Friday

questions for you folks! :) Thanks for sharing with me!

The bad stuff

Friday, March 7th, 2003

personally have spoken to several in chat that
have told me the bad stuff…I read some of the bad
stuff on the message boards…I even seen a pretty
gross picture ( was that someone from here? ) that had
a bad reaction to the adhesives which couldnt hold
her incision together and it was a site to see but
was happy she shared it with us. I know personally
two friends that have had this surgery done and they
told me the bad stuff as well. And you know
what….even with all the bad each person that I have talked
to said they would do it again and that it was the
best thing that ever happened in their life. Laura if
I am lucky enough to have this surgery I will tell
you ANYTHING you want to know…no hold bars!! Going
for that dr.’s visit May 13…10 more days!! YEAH

Hey Mamma and Ican!!! :)

hanks so much for your warm welcome! Since
everyone is open and honest here, I am searching for the
"bad" stuff. I am still trying to weigh the pros and
cons, and all I can find are the success stories. I
can’t help but wonder, where are the people who
wouldn’t do it again? Has anyone met someone who did have
a bad experience?

13 Days to go

Wednesday, March 5th, 2003

i everyone, I have 13 more days to go till i am
on the other side of the big hill. I went yesterday
for my pre-op physcial, and I go Monday of next week
for my pre-admission testing. I start the sugar free
Carnation Instant Breakfast diet tomorrow and I will be on
that until 2 days before surgery, then I will be on a
clear liquid diet the day before. My surgeon gave me my
scripes for my pain medication already and I have to get
that filled before I go in the hospital. Thank you to
all of you, the ones that have been thru the surgery
and those that are waiting and those that are just
starting out.

Donna
Pre-surgery 225lb
May
