<...different meds for
arthritis?

Thanks for asking, Mary. I'm a wreck. I'm trying to walk
every day to get stronger for surgery but it hurst so
much I have to do it in a pool. My pcp told me today
that I can supplement the Celebrex with
arthritis-strength Tylenol, so I will try that tonight. The one dose
of Celebrex just doesn't last all day.

I have
been trying different protein supplements for use
after surgery, and I found some Dr. Atkins food bars at
GNC. 20 grams of protein and NO sugar. I bought
several; so far the best tasting is the brownie. They
might be too gummy for eating early on post-op, but
would probably work later on from what I understand.
Anyone using them post-op?

Hang in there,
everyone. Anyone heard anything from Lisa?

to Mary & Ann and all the other new
comers to this support group site!
My name is Wendy
and I've been a member of this group just over 3
months. I had my open RNY 3 months ago today and have
lost a total, to date, of 68 pounds and over 38 total
inches off my body.
I started out with a BMI of 64.5
and 355 pounds. I'm only 5'3" so toting around all
this excess weight has not been fun. I realize at 287
pounds I still have a long way to go but my attitude
about myself has changed so much with my weight loss
and I haven't been under 300 pounds in years.
It's
a delight to go out and buy new clothes and I can
actually buy my clothes off the rack at the department
stores now...even though it's still in the "big gals"
department!
I had a pretty rough first 6 weeks post op and if

you're interested in the details just ask and I'll let
you know, however, now I feel wonderful and full of
energy.
There are many of us out here that would like to share
our stories with you and there is a wealth of
information available to you for the asking!
Hang in there
and you'll be on the other side before you know it!
God bless!
Wendy...Clearfield, UT

Hi Ann . . . I'm the one who wants to be at St.
Vincents with you. How are you doing on your different
meds for arthritis?

Come on all you newcomers -
see how easy it is.

Everyone on this page
seems very eager to help get us through the rough
spots. Most of the people seem to be on the other side
of surgery.

Just jump in and tell us about
yourselves.
Right Ann?

Mary P

Hi Mary! I wish this board were more active too.
Guess we will just have to be active ourselves. I am
approved and waiting for surgery -- it's not until
September 10. I am going crazy with the waiting. I feel
like a little kid in the back of the car: Are we there
yet are we there yet are we there yet?OK all you
veterans on the other side, write to us! Any suggestions
for approval-waiting (for Mary) or surgery-waiting
(for me) will be appreciated!Annbmi 42Surgery 9/10/99
