It has been ~8 years since I had my tummy tuck.
At that time, I had the tummy tuck and my upper arms
reduced. Both were done at a cost of approx $7,500 (I
think). It has been so long that I may not remember the
figures accurately. The procedure was not very painful
and I will still stand by and say that it was well
worth it. I would do it again.

Jean

I know this is in response to an older post, but
since I have just recently signed on as a new member, I
wanted to share some information about the apron you are
referring to.

I was one of the people that lost a
large amount of weight on a mediacally supervised
liquid diet. I lost 160lbs. and felt confident that I
could keep it off. I had my apron removed (tummy tuck)
and my upper arms reduced. Having the apron gone was
wonderful! Clothes fit better, the bulge in the lower part
of your pants when you are skinny enough to tuck in
your shirt is gone, there is no way to tell you how
great it felt......like I was really thin! That was
160lbs. ago. Yes, I am a statistic! However, even with
regaining the weight, I will never be sorry that the apron
was removed and even with the gained weight, did not

return. When I have my surgery, I am hoping that when the
weight comes off (for good this time) that although
there won't be an apron, that there won't be too much
loose skin. I am sure it won't be as it was before, but
I would not hesitate to have lyposuction done to
get that tummy I was so proud of the last
time.

Thanks for letting me share with you.

Jean

Helen,
thanks for getting back to me about the stomach size.
I was just
worried about it hanging more than it already does.
congratulations on your
weight loss.
Dee

Dear Dee: I am two years post-op and I am sorry
to say that I have what I refer to as my "hang-me
down part." My stomach does hang. I have looked into
tummy tucks but they really gross me out. My stomach
is, however, much, much smaller than originally, so
some of it most have gone away and firmed up (about 20
inches worth.) I have found that stomach crunches do
work a little, but not to the point of firming
anything flat. It is best to wait and see exactly what
amount of stomach hang you will have after surgery. I
know mine isn't so large that I can't live with it.
Good luck....Helen (surgery 8-14-1997)
