Thursday, April 24th, 2003

I just went to a surgeon yesterday. I am now
waiting for my insurance to approve me. Would like to
find someone in Miami, Fl. to make friends with and
exchange e-mail on the surgery.
Liz
Miami, Fl.

George I will be trying that tea in the
morning…although I really am not much of a tea drinker. I do hate
this nauseating feeling and so far havent been able to
pin point where its coming from…like a certain
food…or a drink, etc. But so far I am tolerating it…I
know this is all trail and error and should get better
as time passes. Thanks!

Girl you sound like you nearly sailed thru the
surgery. I know there were the rough times however. Please
take it easy…I know that will be a bit hard with
your little ones but its very important. Soon you will
see and feel some progress and know this is worth
it…thats what I’ve been telling myself for these last two
weeks anyway! Take care!

Im Back home

I had a wonderful doctor.. My incison looks
fairly good. I was on an epidural and an antibiotic
until this morning. (the epidural made it hard to
breastfeed Elijah, because I couldn’t feel when he was
latched on… oh’well)… it worked fine.
I started on
ice chips last night (thursday). Today I have
successfully kept down the broths (chicken and veggie). I
prefer the veggie. : o)
They gave me a little
breathing machine. That thing was great. I started walking
the day after the surgery, and am doing pretty good
today.
I think I may go and get some tylenol, because my
back isn’t used to handling all the lifting and is
kinda sore.
I hated the nose tube. I had that in for
two days, I felt a little closterfobic with that and
the oxegyn on my face.
I also had a hard time with
(more…)

Howdy

Sunday, April 20th, 2003

Well, I went for my consultation yesterday and
have decided to go ahead with the RNY. Talked about
emotions. Within 12 hours, I have felt exhilirated,
terrified, relieved, worried and nervous (not to mention
that I had a final exam to think about too!) One thing
that I am really worried about is being thin because
I’ve never been thin. Well, I guess I’ll just cross
that bridge when it comes.

Anyway, now it’s a
matter of waiting for the insurance to approve — hope
and pray. I can’t thank all of you who have posted
information on this site. Your comments and support have
definitely helped me to make this decision.

Oh, I’m
going to have a new ID soon, so if you don’t see
anything from "SingingBeanCounter", look for
"Mary270".

Have a great weekend everyone :)

EEEEEyowwww.

Ouch ouch ouch. I couldn’t stand the arthritis
anymore without meds so I went to my PCP and got
cortisone shots in both knees and one ankle. I know it will
help the pain long-term, but I thought I was going to
die when she plunged that needle in. She said that
shooting my knees was like giving a shot to a bag of
gravel, the cartilidge (sp?) is so gone. Surgery can’t
come quickly enough, to get some weight off these
pathetic joints!
