needless to say, have just joined. I’m so excited because
I was trying to find out some information regarding
the Roux-en-Y procedure. I’m thinking about getting
it done and if anyone out there can tell me the
truth about the procedure it will help me make an
educated decision. If you could include everything: the
ups and downs, what happens after the surgery, what
and/or when can I eat (all I’ve been able to find is the
"pretty" writing in the brochure). Don’t worry about
scaring me, just give me the guts of the matter (no pun

Hi All:<br>I went to a lecture for Pacific
Bariatric (a surgery group in San Diego) a few weeks ago
and was totally sold on WLS. I finally had hope after
all these years of being so fat. I found out at the
lecture that I qualify without question per Kaiser’s
standards (BMI 50+) and that I don’t need any documented
comorbidities. The panel at the seminar said all I needed was a
referral from Kaiser to their group. Well my OBGYN was my
primary care provider for the past 3 years. I made an
appt with him and found out he can’t refer me, it has
to be a general medicine doctor. Well so I signed up
for a general medicine doctor and he didn’t have any
appointments open for 2 months. So I switched to another one
and same thing– no appts for 2 months. So I
complained and got an appointment to be squeezed in. When I

to see what’s going on. I’m disappointed when there

alot of questions that I didn’t even think about - so

Hi everyone,<br>Maybe someone has a suggestion
about this. I will have surgery in September but have
been told to stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs now.
I guess I am at risk for an ulcer. My pcp gave me a
prescription for Celebrex, which I started taking a couple of
days ago. It is not as effective as other meds and I
am really hurting. Anyone have any suggestions? I
have arthritis in knees and ankles.<br><br>Thanks!
I am sooooooooo happy. I called Tricare Prime
today and received my authorization number. They
already faxed it to the surgeon. <br>YIPPEE!!!<br>Only 11
days left!!!<br>Wow… <br>Well, I have been kinda
nervous about this whole ordeal, but I think I am ready.
I have written letters to my children (just in
case) and my parents.<br>Does anyone have any last
minute tips? Thank you for all of your encouragement
throughout this whole Insurance wait. I waited six weeks and
thought this day would never come.
