Hi Lisa, Don’t worry about "losing" the approval
number from TriCare. They have to send/fax the paperwork
to your surgeon with the pre-approval letter before
any surgery is done. If Janet had a number for you
then you are most likely approved and the other person
you spoke to just didn’t have all the info that Janet
had. So don’t fret and worry yourself gray
haired…*grin*…! I’m glad your hubby is due in soon so you can
have someone to share this frustration with! Have him
call the insurance for you, you’d be surprised how
quickly a "man" can get answers when us poor defenseless
women can’t get a straight answer…<br>hope ya’ll know

Well I read here constantly but never seem to
have much to add but truly do thank you all that have
left posts of advice, encouragement, etc. Its all been
so very helpful. Tomorrow Thursday July 1st at
8:30am is my surgery. I am so very very ready for this.
Best wishes to you all that are waiting to see the
surgeon or waiting on insurance approval…as George
said…we’ve done that and knows how it feels. I will post
when I am able to get back to this computer. ( my
husband is convinced that wont take long!! ) IF anyone
has any questions concerning this my experience feel

Lisa…hang in there girl…if "someone" called you…your approved…its
probably just not completed posted in their system or whatever. Try to stay busy
and calm…yeah right!!

Well, I called tricare prime today. They told me
wonderful news. I was told that my surgery was approved for
July 13Th. I was so excited I screamed!!!<br>She gave
me an authorization number.<br>Later this afternoon,
I was getting a drink from the kitchen, when I
tripped and fell. My drink spilled on the counter and
blotched my paper with the autoriz. number. <br>I called
Tricare Prime back to get the number again and they told
me that I hadn’t been approved. I know that I spoke
to a woman named Janet (she just happened to have
left moments earlier-yeah sure)… anyway,<br>They
said that my authorization is still pending to second
level.<br>So,<br>I have had a really rough emotional
day.<br>Happy…. Wonderfully happy… upset…. tired<br><br>I
think it’s time for bed! At least Adam’s ship pulls in

Hi everyone. Yesterday everything was confirmed
and I am scheduled for surgery on September 11. I
have to wait that long because of all the pre-op
testing my program requires. Plus most of the doctors
take August off! I got my summer leave extended so the
September date will not be a problem.Now for my ten
thousand questions. Actually, I’ll start with just a few:
* What should I be doing now to get ready? I walk
and exercise in a pool because of arthritis. Is that
enough or do I need to crawl back onto the treadmill?
*Is there anything I can do now to help retain
elasticity in my skin? Does building muscle now (like,
working out with arm weights) help that in any way? *Are
there vitamins that can be started now to ward off hair
loss? *Anything else I need to know? (I already know

Hi everyone,<br><br>has anyone had a Distal
RNYw/Transection stomach?<br>I would appreciate any information
that any one has about this procedure. <br><br>Also,
my doctor says that it causes very smelly bowl
movements, I heard that there is a spray that is very
powerful that can be used, is this true? Also, if anyone
can make sugestions about their eating habits and
what they can an cannot tolerate. Sorry for all the
questions but, I find that you can learn so much from
people who have been there before you and if I can save
myself from making any mistakes of any kind I want to.
And please don’t hesitate to tell me anything I’m a

Greetings, all. This looks like a good group with
lots of great information. I am waiting for insurance
confirmation of my surgery. I say "confirmation" because I was
denied by my insurance company, but my employers
interceded for me (we are a self-funded insurance group that
employs a company to administer the program) and directed
the company to pay up anyway! That just happened on
Friday. So, as soon as they get confirmation of this to
my doctor, we can schedule my surgery. I’m hoping to
get it done this summer so I can recuperate before
going back to work in the fall.<br><br>I look forward
to getting to know all of you. I’m going to get some
pictures made this week so I’ll have a "before" shot — I
always hide when the cameras come out and so have no
pics!<br><br>Ann

I cannot believe how long it has taken to find
out if I am approved or not. Tricare Prime sure is
taking their time!<br>I sure hope I hear something soon.
Bad news is better than no news. <br>Well, let me
re-phrase that… GOOD news is better than any
news!!!<br><br>I hope I get approved. I called them on Tuesday and
they told me that they were still waiting for hte
consult from the psych. I called her office and was
informed that they faxed over the information and that
they would re-send it. As of Friday, they haven’t
worked on my case, so I will keep a vigil by the phone
every evening.<br>I sure do hope I get
approved…<br>Adam has to put in for his leave by Monday and the
ship leaves Monday, so I cannot get in touch with him
until he comes back on Friday. He will go ahead and

Thanks to both of you for the information about
BC/BS. I’ll be talking to my PCP on Monday about writing
my letter to persuade insurance. Then I know the
wait begins. Hope it ends positive as y’alls did. Will
be seeing my family tomorrow for my Mom’s 91st
birthday. Am planning to tell them of my plans for surgery.
It will be interesting to see how they react.
Hopefully positive since I know they’d like me to live
another 20 years and at the rate I am going now, without
surgery I don’t think I’d make that.<br>Mary
