Maybe You Can HELP…
I have a MILLION questions…
1) How long is
post-op recovery…meaning How long until I can go back
to work (approx.)?
2) Does this surgery impair
your ability to have children?
3) Anyone from NJ
that can recommend a good doctor?
4) My best friend
in Texas had this surgery with barely ANY problems,
BUT a lady at work’s husband had the surgery and
nearly died from malnutrition….I’m scared because of
what could go wrong. I need to lose at most 150 lbs.

Can anyone help answer these
questions?

~Teach
(Angela)
P.S. Does anyone know the name of the
surgery that
ROSEANNE had? Im curious to see if that is different than
the bypass and maybe it has a less amount of recovery
time.
THANKS!

Angela,
I had the RNY done July 13th. I was
able to care for my two children plus babysit other
children at approximately 3 weeks.
I guess it depends
on how fast your body can recoperate.
I have a
high pain tolerance (didn’t take med’s during either
of my children’s births) and didn’t need any med
after the epidural was removed. I know some people take
some medication at home to help with the first few
days.
My surgeon said that he wanted for me to wait at
least two years before getting pregnant… so, no it
doesn’t impair the ability to have more children. From
what I have read, it makes you more prone to getting
pregnant… so be careful. :)
Sorry, not from N.J…
:)
Um… about being scared. You may want to consider
this. Try to think of your life in a whole. What
priority does your weight place in your life? For me, I
wasn’t living, so I assumed anything was better than
what I had before. Make sure you get a good surgeon,
check him/her out with the state board… see if there
are any malpractice suits against him/her. Also, see
how many operations your surgeon has done and get
some refrences. If you can speak to some of the people
he has operated on (the same surgery), you might
find yourself reasurred. I’m not saying that something
won’t happen, there’s always a possibility, but for me
that was a risk I didn’t mind taking.
I’m not sure
what surgery Rosanne had. I don’t think she had the
rny , but am not positive.
Hope I was of some
help.
:)
Lisa B.
rny 7-13-99
Pre-op 304
Post-op 252

She had the Fobi pouch surgery. It’s similar to RNY I think. I’m not sure what
the differences are.
