My Consultation Visit and after

I waited for nearly 3 months for my consultation
visit on Sept. 3. After visiting with the surgeon,
things look like I will be on my way after the insurance
authorization. Very exciting!
I followed up with the Dr.
office on Sept. 8 and they told me everything was being
compiled and would be faxed to the insurance on Sept. 10.
Yeah!

Then I found myself wondering at what step the
insurance company was at, especially after reading some of
your stories……couldn’t wait (although my husband
said I was being to impatient)so I called. What do you
think happened? "No, sorry, we don’t have any
information on you. But, usually the preauthorization dept.
contacts us, so you might want to try giving them a call".
I called the Dr. office and "Yes, the information
was faxed to the pre-authorization dept on Sept. 10".

So….I call the pre-authorization dept. and "No, we
don’t have anything in the system for you, what fax #
did you send it to?" Duh, the one on my insurance
card! ……."oh, you sent it to the wrong division,
here is our fax number". So I called the Dr. office
and they are faxing the information to both
divisions. One week lost! I am sure glad that I took the
bull by the horns and got on this, or I might have
just been in the fax pile somewhere.

Thanks
for letting me vent……glad I have picked up
pointers from all of you before starting my insurance
journey. I will not stop…..I will win!

Jean

Jean, I am positive that insurance employees go
through extensive training on how to lose paperwork. They
must have a big dumpster behind their building full of
un-opened mail and un-read faxes. Just keep bugging them,
and don’t get lost in the shuffle! Good Luck! Lynn
