Ann’s back!
Hi everyone,
I’m baaaaack! I had my surgery
(open RNY) done on September 10…. got out of the
hospital on September 15 (my 50th birthday) with a slight
case of pneumonia. Had a few draggy days at home and
then suddenly started feeling better and better. I
can’t believe it, I am thinking about going back to
work next week!

I think one of the reasons I am
feeling so well is that I actually have less pain than
before the surgery. All through the summer my arthritis
was so out of control I just hobbled around like an
old lady. I guess the combination of the pain meds
for surgery and the long rest reduced the
inflammation significantly so I am really walking better now
than before surgery.

I did have a binder and I
wore it for the first week at home. Just wear it for
walking now. I still have a drain in and the binder helps
keep that from getting irritated.

One really
amazing thing is my scar. For an open RNY, I have a
3-and-a-half-inch scar!! Can you believe it? My surgeon, Dr. Rose
Marie Jones, is a very petite woman who has very small
hands.

I gained weight in the hospital due to
all the fluids but since coming home I have lost all
that plus 10 pounds. Pretty good for 10 days
postop!

Thanks for all your support as I get ready for this.
I’ll "talk" to you soon.
blessings,
Ann
