Are Gallstones a side-effect?

Hi,
I’m new. Will gallstones be a side effect
if I choose this operation? I’ve been doing a lot of
research and I came across this point of possibility.
Anyone have this problem due to the gastric
bypass?

Tim

hi tim.
i have heard of people having
gallstones as a side effect of this operation, but i haven’t
had this problem. the only side effect i have
suffered is lactose intolerance. being a nurse, i can say
though that obesity can also cause gallstones, so i
guess in a way it’s kinda like a weigh scale. you are
very smart in doing alot of research because this is a
very major surgery. what i did before having my
surgery was sit down and write out the pros and cons of
the surgery. in my case, the pros definately
outweighed the cons. but it is a very individual and
personal decision that you must seriously think about. i
hope this was of help to you.
shawna

My Dr has me on Actigall as a preventative
measure to gall stones. Apparently, those who have rapid
weight loss have also a rapid metabolization of
cholesterol by the liver and passage of it through the gall
bladder increasing the possibility of stones.

Mike
