Urgent!!!

I just found this club in my search for all the
information I can absorb before my surgery. I have been
approved - in 3 days from my insurance company which must
be some kind of record - I am scheduled for surgery
next Tuesday - Sept. 28th. I just found out yesturday,
so that gives me all of a week to REALLY prepare
myself for this. I started researching types of surgery
4-5 months ago and had a hard time finding a surgeon
within my insurance network. I has a consult with
Bariatric Treatment Centers in IL. I was denied for an out
of network referral as there are surgeorn in my area
which do the procedure. I went to a consult and after
being set on the Roux-en-Y procedure, he talked me into
the VBG. Apparently the Dr. who founded the VBG is at
the University of Iowa and that is the procedure

performed by the UofI and surrounding Drs. My problem is
all the info is usually on Gastric Bypass. I am
getting a little discouraged. Some info says the
Roux-en-Y is superior to the VBG and others say there is no
difference, except the VBG takes a little more commitment
from the patient. Has anyone had the VGB and if so how
has your experience been? I am curious about
everything, so please respond with whatever info you think. I
am so anxious and nervous. I guess no matter what
procedure, the feelings I am having at this moment are the
same all of you have had at one time or another.
Please give me any words of encouragement you feel would
help. Only thing is HURRY - I am 6 days away and
counting!!!!

    Hi,
I had an RNY on September 10. So I am
almost 2 weeks postop. I go to the surgeon on Monday for
my 2-week checkup and I am going to ask her if I can
go back to work the next day. That’s how good I am
feeling. I can honestly say that as of a couple of days
ago I feel better than I did pre-op. Amazing, I know.
But it’s true. I have very little pain of any kind,
and this summer my arthritis was so bad I could
    hardly walk.

My "unofficial" (at home) weight
loss in two weeks is 24 pounds. That’s not counting
the pounnds I put on in the hospital from all the
fluids — they came and went very quickly.

Best
of luck to you. Congratulations on your approval and
keep us all posted on your
    progress.

blessings,
Ann
