Maybe You Can HELP…

Friday, May 16th, 2003

I have a MILLION questions…
1) How long is
post-op recovery…meaning How long until I can go back
to work (approx.)?
2) Does this surgery impair
your ability to have children?
3) Anyone from NJ
that can recommend a good doctor?
4) My best friend
in Texas had this surgery with barely ANY problems,
BUT a lady at work’s husband had the surgery and
nearly died from malnutrition….I’m scared because of
what could go wrong. I need to lose at most 150 lbs.

Can anyone help answer these
questions?

~Teach
(Angela)
P.S. Does anyone know the name of the
surgery that
ROSEANNE had? Im curious to see if that is different than
the bypass and maybe it has a less amount of recovery
time.
THANKS!

Just a check up

I had a checkup yesterday.
I am six weeks
post op and have gone from 304# pre-op to
252#post-op.
I am exercising and able to help out more on the
yard work. I can’t believe how much energy I
have.
I used to have to sleep at least 10 hours a night
and then nap with the kids about two hours during the
day.
Now , I seem pretty energized with about seven hours
of sleep a day.
It’s great!
Just wanted to
check in with all of you. How are all of you doing?
George, it sounds like you are doing well
also!
Mammabear, haven’t heard from you in a while. :)
God
Bless and Goodluck to you all.

(P.S. was really
excited to fit into size 20 for my son’s first birthday
today) :)

new member-2 years post op

Thursday, May 15th, 2003

Hello everyone :o) I am posting here for the
first time today. I had roux en y gastric bypass
surgery in 1997 and had lost 160 pounds and went from a
size 28 to a size 9 but the doctor told me I was too
thin so I have now gained 15 pounds to his approval. I
really am glad that I found this club because I have
some problems with food since my surgery that I was
wondering if anyone else had. I am 25 years old and I have
skin hanging everywhere like an elderly person, I am
glad that I have lost the weight but am self concious
about all the loose skin…I mean will it ever go back
to normal? Another problem I have is what the doctor
referred to as dumping syndrome with anything containing
dairy. I get very very ill from it. Has anyone else had
a problem like this? If so how do you

THE LAST DIET

Thursday, May 15th, 2003

I just thought I would post this little message
for those that have not had surgery as yet and are in
the process of wondering "if it will work this time."
(I hope I say this right) Before my surgery my diets
would last until the first "Big Mac" passed my way.
Then I would figure…what the heck and dive in with
both feet. After my surgery, my new stomach and my new
way of life is the first thing I think about in the
morning and the last thing I think about when I go to
bed. I still eat some things that I shouldn’t but my
stomach lets me know quickly that I did at "bad thing."
Every morning my diet ideas and my new lease on life is
reaffirmed. I can truthfully say that this is definitely the
"last diet" I will ever be on.

Thanks for
listening….Helen

255 lbs. - 8-14-1997
141 lbs. - 9-3-1999

I’m doing it!

I just went to the doctor’s today and found I
have lost 31 pounds! I am so excited! It has only been
since Aug 2 when I had my surgery… I am going to a
wedding the middle October… anyone have an idea how
much I can expect to lose by then?

I just joined the club today

Hello My Name is Paula Bush and I had a
Gastric-By-pass 5 yrs ago and I lost 127 lbs. and have kept it
off for the most part. I go up and down 5lbs. I will
post my before and after pic in the photos, even
though I am keeping the weight off I still need some
support. I use to belong to a support group, but it was
cancelled and I still need the support. So here I am, that
surgery was the best thing I ever did. It changed my
whole life, I have self confidence which I never had
when I was heavy. My kids are very proud of me, and my
husband is too. I have decided to go back to school, to
become a teacher. I have volunteered at one of the local
elementary schools. And without this surgery I would never
have had the courage to do any of these things.
I
think I will enjoy being a member of this

pre-op troubles

Tuesday, May 13th, 2003

Hi everyone,
I haven’t posted in awhile but I
wanted to bring you up to date. I’m scheduled for RNY
surgery on September 10. I had all my ore-ops done on
August 11 and thought I was really on my way. Well, a
couple of days ago my surgeon called to say that they
had found a "density" (?) on my right lung and would
I come in for a ct-scan.

I had the scan
this morning but I won’t hear anything until Tuesday
when I see the surgeon. I’m worried about having
something horrible (my mother died of lung cancer at 53;
I’m 49) but I think I’m more worried about having the
surgery delayed!!

So keep a good thought for me
and let me know if anyone has any wisdom to share
about this. I’ll post again after I see the
surgeon.

blessings,
Ann

I am a happy little man

Hi Y’all,
No i haven’t abandoned yall. I’ve
just been going out a lot now. It feels so great to be
able to do the same thing that others are doing. I am
able to keep up and often times i run right past them
and when they are all pooped out i am still on full
charge.

I haven’t had one of those mean stares
from people lately. i have been getting a lot of
smiles from the ladies…. maybe it’s because i smile
alot now too.

I went to the movies on Sunday
with my 18 yo cousin to the discount theater… i used
to hate going there ’cause i would always try to
find an isle seat so i could fit <sideways &
uncomfotabley>, but this time i wasn’t thinking and i just sat
down and WHOOOO i didn’t eaven touch the armrests like
i always did. i was actually able to move around
