2 Year Post-Op Appointment

Monday, May 12th, 2003

Hi All: I went to my doctor’s for my 2 year
post-op appointment. I was told something by my doctor
that I have never experienced before….I was
told….."DON’T lose any more weight!" Can you believe it. That
is not something I have ever been told. I weighed in
at 141 pounds. That is a total of 114 pounds since
my surgery and I have maintained that weight for
over one year. For all of those that just had surgery
and maybe are thinking…"What have I done." Keep the
faith. You are going to be soooooo happy with the
decision you made. My life has changed so much and all of
it for the better. Here I am two years post op and
am now wearing a size 12 down from a size 26/28. God
I am glad I made this choice. Take care all of
you….Helen

wind that I am pursuing such an expensive surgery? Anyone know if that can
happen and if so, do I have legal recourse?

Hi again! My story :-)

Friday, May 9th, 2003

This is only the second time I have posted here
but I sure could use some feedback. I had my surgery
done on July 12th by Dr. Rutledge in NC (Lap GB) but
on July 24th found myself in my local hospital with
a bowel obstruction and emergency surgery. Now I
have an infection in my incision and have to have a
nurse come everyday to change out the guaze. My hubby
says it looks like a steak cut open (sorry) so I
refuse to look at it. On a positive note I weighed
270#’s (5′7"/42 yo mom of 3) when the surgery is done
and now I weigh 233 only 4 weeks later! Right now I
am just trying to get better. I am queasy during the
day but at least all the plumbing is working now. Has
anyone else had complications too?

I’d particularly like to hear of first hand experiences with the surgery,
insurance considerations, etc.

Hi Y’all

Thursday, May 8th, 2003

,
I just wanted to say hi and welcome
all the new members to the group. I haven’t posted in
a while because i have been going out a lot and
ejoying my newfound mobility.

For those who don’t
know me i am 25, single, and a student in college. I
had the Fobi Pouch VBG on April 23, 1999 in Belflower
California and i have had only two problems; dizziness and
an opening in my incision line that took an extra
three weeks to heal properly.

I have lost
fifty pounds and seven inches and went from XXXL to XL
shirts. and it has been only three and a half months. I
can’t wait till i am one year post-op.

Anyhow,
welcome new members and to my friends, i’m still around.
Bye for now
George

BIB

Tuesday, May 6th, 2003

Hi all. I’m new here. I was wondering if anyone
has had any experience with the BIB procedure. I
don’t even know if this is done in the U.S. I read
about it on a British site. I don’t know what BIB
stands for but it involves inflating a balloon after
insertion in stomach with 400 to 800 ccs of saline.
Obviously the balloon, in theory, displaces room that would
otherwise be stuffed with food. Comments????

Hungry anyone?

Monday, May 5th, 2003

I know that the surgery was to help control my
appetite, but I am never hungry. It is hard to keep my
calories and vitamens and protein down, when during my
first bite, I feel totally full. Is this my mind
playing tricks on me?
I know I am still new to this. I
will be a month post op in a few days. Any
advise?
Lisa
RNY 7-13-99
Pre-op 304
Post-op 267
