To Check In!

Sunday, May 4th, 2003

Thank you for the compliment on my pictures in
the photo section. I have them posted on my computer
terminal also to remind me everyday of where I have come
from. This Saturday is my 2 yr. anniversary of my
surgery. I am still holding steady at 110 lbs gone. I was
once at 115 lbs gone, but managed to gain a few with
summertime picnics, etc. Wendy don’t worry about the plane
seats. I still get that momentary shock when I go to the
movie theatre and then manage to actual fit into the
seat. I don’t think that is something that will ever go
away. Even closing the door in a bathroom stall without
going through major contorsions surprises me everytime.
Just relish each of these little surprises. If your
pleased with your dress size now…..can you just imagine
where you are going to be next year……keep

Checking in

Saturday, May 3rd, 2003

Hello everyone…Just checking in at nearly 6
weeks post op now. I seem to be getting past that
nausea feeling for the most part, weight loss is at 37
pounds, took a vacation to Biloxi but was pretty tired
with the 10 hour ride and all the walking we did. The
main problem I seem to be having is a pain in my side
where that tube was removed…my incision has been just
fine, but that tube place has been a real pain for me.
All in all things are going well and I do plan to
return to work the day after Labor Day. Glad to see all
the new folks here…WELCOME. Good luck to you all in
finding a surgeon and insurance approval. It is all
stressful but hang in there.
Everyone have a wonderful
week!

Me again.

I am very interested in the psychological effects
folks have experienced as they were losing weight, but
particularly when down to "normal" weight. This is not for a
research project–I am gearing up to have WLS myself.
Thanks to all who take the time to respond.

Has anyone had to sue their insurance company (specifically an HMO), who has
done it through Walter Lindstrom’s office, and has won? How long did it take
and how much were the attorney fees?

Hi everyone!

I just joined this list and wanted to introduce
myself. My name is Amy. I live in a suburb of Dallas,
Texas. I am a working single mother of an adorable
two-year old son, Alex.

I have chatted through
email with several people from the obestiy help group
and they have helped guide me in my wls
search.

The good news is that I have been approved, and am
scheduled for surgery in Atlanta with Dr. Champion. I will
have the lap RNY, and I am very excited and nervous.
Have any of you traveled out of town to have your
surgery?

Hope to get to know you all or ya’ll as a texan would
say!! lol

Amy
Prudential POS - approved (out

I live in Madison WI, closest MGB?

Thursday, May 1st, 2003

Hi: I know of one physician in the whole city of
Madison that does WLS and I heard through this venue that
he provides no followup care and is robotic in his
bedside manner. Anyone know the closest place I could get
a mini gastric bypass?

REJECTED

Thursday, May 1st, 2003

My mom had a consultation with a local doctor,
and the doctor told her that she wouldn’t be a very
good candidate for WLS. My mom has diabeties and has
had a triple bypass. Some of her small vessels are
closing up and causing her to have poor circulation. The
doctor thinks that the vessels in the stomach may have
some difficulties healing.
This was like a chance
of hope to my mom and the doctor shot it down
quickly. If there is anyone that had similar symptoms
prior to surgery could you please email me. I am
planning on taking her to get a second opinion.

Hi all!

Hi everyone, my name is Terri and I had
laparoscopic gastric bypass done by Dr. Rutledge in NC on
July
12th. I live in upstate NY but wanted to have Dr.
R. do it because I liked the idea of having 5 tiny
scars as
opposed to a big zipper one :-) Unfortuneatly I now have both because a week after the surgery
I had a
complication of a small bowel
obstruction which caused a second operation. Now I am sitting
here with
an infection in the incision to boot!
Sigh, believe it or not I am still not sorry I did
this. Before the surgery
I weighed 270lbs and am
5′7" tall. I am down 23lbs. I can’t wait to finally
shop for normal clothes and to
ride a bike! Glad
to find a place to chat about our shared
experience.

T
