new member awaiting insurance approval
hi everyone, i’m new to the club. i’m awaiting
insurance approval. all the other messages i’ve read give
me hope and lets me know that this surgery really
works and i’m making the right choice. cross your
fingers everyone that i get my approval. thanks, rachel

have Ark. BC/BS and they approved within a couple
days, but will only pay 50% up to $4000 !!! But I’m
having the gastric bypass surgery anyway. I’ll just be
making payments for the rest of my lengthened life. I
just want to be thin, healthy, and happy again. By the
way, I’m 255 lbs, 5′7", 30 yrs. old, married with 2

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illnois so
hopefully I’ll have the same luck. I don’t care about the
50%, I want it done anyway. It will be worth it. I’m
32, engaged, with one kid, 10 yr old. I’m going for
my psych eval on Wed. Did you have to get an

No, not yet. But I did have to fill out a bunch
of paperwork. I haven’t even seen the Dr. yet. I go
up to St. Louis on 11/19 to meet with the Dr. and
nutritionist, etc. Maybe that’s the day I talk with a Psych. I
don’t know. Then my surgery will be 11/22/99. They said
I could spend the weekend in the nurses dorms, so I
wouldn’t have to drive back and forth (4 hour drive).
Where are you having your surgery (you may have told me

I’m having my surgery at the Bariatric Treament
Center in Addison, Michigan. Well the Center is in Ann
Arbor and the hospital is in Addison. I’ve seen the Dr
already for a consultation, then you have to get a psych
evaluation along with waiting for approval, then I have an
appt with a nutritionist and for labs, before the
surgery. The center is about 3 hours away. Rachel
