Hi everyone! Well, I survived my first week at my
new job but I am so exhausted! I don’t know if it’s
mental strain or a result of the surgery, or both! But
all in all I feel wonderful and ready to move
on.
I guess going back to work was a good thing for me
because I broke the plateau I was at and broke the 94
pound lost mark and hit 101 pounds today.
I have to
admit that I have no idea what to take to work for
lunch so I know I’m not eating enough or the right
things. But at least I’m keeping up with my water intake.
I’ve tried salads, soup and just plain ‘ol salami with
cheese, but it’s all getting so boring. Plus they only
give us a 30 minute lunch break and I don’t know about
ya’ll but I get sick to my stomach if I eat too fast
and 30 minutes is just not enough time to eat

I went to my first post-op appt. on Thursday,
Oct. 7th. I was just over a week from my surgery - I
stepped on the scale and has lost 16lbs!!!!!!! I can’t
believe it. I ‘m trying not to get too caught up in the
weight itself - and am trying to focus on how much
better I really feel. Can’t believe the difference
already!!! I’m up to walking 3 miles a day and am only 1
week out of the hospital.

Are there any
support groups for post-op and the months to follow - For
Example? Motivation to keep exercising, eating tips,
emotions, etc.???? The more support I can get the better.
There is not a support group here in my area so I am
depending on the internet.

Anyway - Good Luck to all
those who are awaiting surgery - I am so exicited for
you all to experience what I am right

This is to all the people in the OSSG family: You
don’t know what you have done to help my family (wife)
in the stability of her decision to improve her
health and life by getting this surgery. For months her
parents and my parents (and it seems like everyone else
we know!) have told us they are against the decision
to have surgery of any kind for weight loss. They
believe the costs greatly outweigh the benefits–thinking
she’s going to die or worse (ha, ha). I’ve been behind
her decision 100% from the beginning (with
apprehensive concerns about surgery in general, of course).
Although I’ve never met any of you, but listening to your
stories (over 800 of them LOL), they sound all too
familiar. It is also extremely encouraging and comforting
to know that WLS really works–you all are proof. So

Guess What! I’ve been approved for surgery at BTC!! (Call Ripley — he’ll say
that I don’t believe it! - LOL)

I guess patience and perserverance (sp?)
really does pay off.
Well, I think you should all know that I’m going
to join the circus. No, not as the fat lady, but
something that involves hoops.

Why? do you ask?
Well, I have jumped through so many hoops in the past 4
months just to get my insurance approved. Believe it or
not, they still need more information
(UGH!!!).

Thanks for letting me vent.
Hi everyone. I know I haven’t posted for a while.
I am getting ready for Adam’s return. I can’t
believe he’ll be back in two days! :)
I have a few
questions…
-I have had a tingling sensation in my back, lower
legs and below my breasts. Is this common? It feels
like the extremeties are almost asleep. REALLY
WEIRD!
-Do any of you experiance post-op back pain? My back
aches sooo much! I don’t know why.
-Does the extra
tummy skin pull on your incision? What do you do for
relief?

Thank you all. I really appreciate all of
your continued support in this major change in my
life. Good luck to all the pre-ops and congratulations
all you post-op’s.

God Bless,
Lisa

After all my apprehensions - I finally made it
through the surgery!!!

My surgery was Tues 9-28
and I had Open VBG. I was released Friday Morning by
8:00!!! I could not believe I actually went through with
it after I was wheeled out. Everything was quote
"textbook" according to my surgeon. I did not have to have
my gallbladder taken out - which was my concern -
and the first question I asked when I was finally
coherent.

I have a row of 32 staples - much bigger
than I thought. I read someone elses posting that
their surgeon was a woman and she only had a 3 1/2 inch
incesion. My surgeon is a 6′2" man with large hands -
wonder if that made a difference. - Oh well a constant
reminder of what I have gone through. I am already on
pureed foods and doing well. I have my first appt. on

Friends,
I just can’t get it out of my head.
Why is this surgery the answer to the lifelong
pursuit of being healthy and slimmer? Why can’t I just go
on a diet and start exercising? My mind keeps going
back to this basic question. Please, I keep doubting
myself. Give me some feedback, won’t you?

Tim
