Spazzin’ out…

Well, I had my Pulmonary Function test, chest
x-ray, and ABGs done today and I also received a call
from my regular Dr. It seems that I am extremely
hypothyroid (the kind that makes you heavy, of course) so he
said even if I get the surgery, I need to take meds
the rest of my life. Also, I have to have a test on
Monday by Nuclear Medicine to check for tumors and
things on my thyroid gland–just what I need. Well, I
told him I was still going thru with the surgery, and
he needed to hurry and get me on the meds I needed
to be on. I cld Dr. Fabito’s office and they said
being Hypothyroid won’t affect the surgery, but MY Dr.
said that if I didn’t start taking the meds, I
wouldn’t recover as well. (argh). Just more to stress
over. In addition, my Pulmonary Test didn’t go very

well due to my asthma. So I hope that doesn’t stall
the surgery for any reason.<br><br>Thanks
guys,<br>Tammy

Tammy, don’t spaz about being hypothyroid. I was
diagnosed 6 yrs ago with autoimmune hypothyroidism(which
means that not only does my thyroid not function
properly, but I’m also allergic to the gland itself). But
believe me, it’s not a big deal. I take one tiny little
pill every day and it’s taken care of. My doctor also
said that the surgery will not be effected by it. (I’m
still waiting for insurance approval) <br>It is a good
idea to get on the meds ASAP so your body has time to
adjust to them. Thyroid does play a big part in your
    healing ability and metabolism too.<br>Take
    care!<br>Melissa

Tammy… like MElissa said don’t worry about
being hypothyroid. I am still on my synthroid 4 months
post op and everythings doing well. But she is correct
about it affecting your metabolisma and healing
properties. Just be careful and remember to take your pills.

Melissa:<br>I will be on the meds. approx. a week prior to surgery. Do you
think that will be enuff time? My Dr. seems to think so.<br><br>Thank
    you,<br>Tam

It should be fine. The sooner the better! I know
I could tell a difference in the way I felt just a
day or two after I began my meds. It gives me more
energy and stamina. Of course I’m so used to it now that
    I don’t notice it.<br>Good luck! Melissa
