Photos and Doctors

Sunday, August 31st, 2003

WOW LISA!!! You look so good!!! I started with
your beginning picture and then right to your present
picture!!! Holy Cow! You must feel so good. Do you have a
stomach apron? I know that I do but I can hide it pretty
good. <br><br>Anyway, I wanted to address the comment
that many have said about their doctors. I can’t
believe how nieve regular doctors can be about this type
of surgery. My doctor was so upset that I had this
surgery. She won’t even congratulate me on my weight loss.
So, don’t get discourage by the way your regular
doctor reacts to your decision to look into this
surgery. If we went by their remarks, no one would have
this surgery done and we would be living our lifes in
misery.<br><br>Happy New Year to Everyone. Helen

Just in the thinking phase

Saturday, August 30th, 2003

Hi to all the wonderful people in the club. My
husband and I are both thinking very heavily on having
surgery done to help rid us of this overweight lifestyle.
We have both been heavy from childhood and want to
be around to see our grandchildren when they come.
That will be quite some time as our kids are only 10 &
12.<br>We are going to call the Bariatric center in our
area to make an appointment for a consultation. I am
nervous because I do not like feeling nausiated and from
reading many posts that seems to be the number 1 thing
while healing. I am determined not to go to another
weight loss clinic that gives out pills or hard to
follow diets. I have tried everything but use food for
comfort (which is like programmed into my brain) and now
I have ballooned up to 240lb with a height of 5′1′.

Hi! <br>Sorry its been so long since my last
post, I have a lot to get caught up on I see. I’ve been
really sick. And ya know what? I’m sick of being sick.
Its been 10 weeks since my surgery, and though I’m
down 60 pounds, I’ve spent most of it feeling like
I’ve been on a drinking binge, I feel so sick to my
stomach. Yesterday, my doc sent me to the hospital for
more tests, (upper gi, bloodwork, and a 5 hour long
IV) but the only thing it showed was a urinary tract
infection. He wrote me a script for antibiotics. But..I
haven’t eaten food in 9 days, though I am drinking, I
throw up things I eat and just looking at or smelling
food makes me cringe. What is happening to me? I’m
really scared. And what about the antibiotics? If my
tummy is upset now, what is going to happen when I

Suggestions/Ideas for Pureed Foods

Wednesday, August 27th, 2003

Can anyone give me suggestions and/or ideas for
pureed foods? Currently, my Mom (who is doing most of
the grocery shopping) insists that I can only eat
Baby food (GAG!!!).<br><br>I know that I can have
applesauce, soups, yogurt, etc. but I would really like to
expand my menu options.<br><br>Thanks :-)

Hello from a new member

Wednesday, August 27th, 2003

Hello group. I have just joined today, and
frankly just started thinking about/researching this
surgery. I am 41 years old and 500+ lbs. I also have
diabetes, high blood pressure and have had cancer. I
believe that this surgery might be the only way to save
my life. I am scared to even think of it, but so
tired of feeling bad, in pain, humilitated, etc., etc.,
etc. I appreciate the sharing of your experiences more
than you could ever know. I will see my cancer
specialist the first of Feb. and I am going to inquire about
bariatric surgeons in the area. <br> I wish everyone a
happy and healthy Christmas and New
Year.<br><br>Hugs,<br>Cathy

Merry Christmas!

Wednesday, August 27th, 2003

I just wanted to post to the list and wish
everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!<br>I also wanted to give you
an update.<br>For those of you who remember I was
stuck at 314 for the last three months , but I went to
the surgeon for a check up and boom I am down to
304.<br>I was thrilled , so anyone who is on a plateau
believe me it goes away and so does the
weight!.<br>thank,<br>Dee

I have a question.

Tuesday, August 26th, 2003

I have a question and I’m hoping it doesn’t sound
too weird. <br><br>"How much weight have you
lost?"!!!!! I keep hearing that from the people that know
I’ve had the surgery. I am VERY proud of what I’ve
accomplished so far, but have decided NOT to focus on the lbs
lost. My mom got SO upset with me last night when I
wouldn’t tell her and told me there was something wrong
with me. I don’t think it’s crazy to focus on getting
healthy and take the emphasis off of the scale.
<br><br>Someone tell me I’m NOT nuts. *L*<br><br>Thanks,
