I’m back…
Hi, everyone. I’ve been reading up on the posts.
Well, I had my surgery (open rny) on 11/22/99, & I got
out of the hospital today. I’m still on full liquids,
so I’m feeling very deprived due to today being
Thanksgiving. I didn’t think I’d feel this way, but I do. My
stomach is not hungry, but my brain is. I’m sure the
post-ops understand. Well, about my surgery, I have one
thing to say: IT HURTS. Way more than anyone has said
or implied. Maybe I’m a total wimp, but they had me
on tons of morphine & demoral & it wasn’t helping.
It was like that for the day & night of the surgery,
& got somewhat better the next day. Much better
now. And I’ve had pain before (2 c-sections plus going
through some labor on the first one, for example).
Plus of course I’m going thru the phase of why did I
do this–which I was expecting–because I haven’t
had enough time to lose any weight yet, and now we
are another $20000 in debt. So if anyone has any
words of encouragement or wisdom, I’m all
ears.
Also, to the post-ops, why didn’t you warn me about
this dam binder-thingy???? YUCK.

Happy Turkey
Day, everyone.
Love,
Tammy

Happy Thanksgiving Tammy,
Yeah I know what you
mean about wondering if you have done the right thing.
My first few weeks after the surgery were fairly
rough, although not as rough as I have heard others
have. But the bonus is I NOW feel great! I had my
surgery August 2, 1999 (open RNY) and I have now lost 62
pounds! Just when I feel like maybe I am slowing down…
does anyone actually notice… then I get a wonderful
comment from someone! This past 2 weeks I am actually
getting comments from strangers! The cashier at the
grocery store stopped me one day and asked why I looked
different.. I said hmm… "no cane"… "no walker"… "no
glasses"… "make-up"… "curled my hair"… "and I have lost
about 60 pounds!" It was such a great feeling when I
got to the weight loss comment and I saw the lights
go off in her mind! It has had me floating around
for days now! And then there are the people from
church… I know I am really looking good… and all these
comments show it!

But the biggest bonus for me is
my physical well being! I have had 10 surgeries in
the past 3 years because of a traumatic car accident,
well I have ruptured another disk in my back! The
doctor told me Wednesday how proud of me he is for all
the weight I have lost and agreed with me if I was
still carrying the extra 60 poundss I would be in the
hospital again, not talking about options with
him!

So all in all you are $20,000 in debt… but your
health will thank you in your longevity of life will
thank you very soon! Just chin up and keep reading…
we are allhere for eachother… and this
Thanksgiving I am thankful for finding this club and everyone
in it!
God’s Peace to all of you!
Cindy
aka
gonna do it this time!

Tammy,
Its so good to have you back. I hope
you got my email that I sent. I’m going to try and
call you on Monday when everyone is gone, that way we
can talk if you are up to it. Hang in there! (I
didn’t have a binder, don’t yell at me LOL)
Love
ya,
Laura

Hi Cammi, where in Indiana do you live? I live in Laporte, Indiana, just south
of Lake Michigan. I had Open RnY two months ago, and now I’m down 50 pounds.
Unbelievable! Lynn
