Hi,
I am nine weeks post op as of
tuesday.
I have gone from 371lbs to 314 and now I am at a
plateau.
I’ve been 314 for about 11 days and it’s driving me
crazy.
I don’t want to fail this.
If you have any ideas
how to get this weight coming off again let me
know.
thanks,
Dee (in VA)
someone had told me about a support
group in the hampton roads area please post that info

Dee,

I am 2 months post-op and I have had
a couple of plateaus since. I have found that if I
go back to the "Basics" I get over the plateau VERY
fast.

I measure exactly 1/2 cup (2 of the
little medicine cup) of food - usually cottage cheese
for breakfast, a hearty protein based soup for lunch
then 1 oz of lean meat for dinner w/ a small salad or
veggie side. I only did this for a couple of days then I
get past the plateau and am on my way again. I find
that when I hit a plateau it was after losing a bit
and I would stray from measuring and concentrating on
getting my proteins and all my water a day. Easy to do
when you start feeling so good and some days I feel so
much more hungry than others.

I know it is not
fun to eat so plain like that but it has helped me
tremondously. I have lost over 50lbs. in 2 months and am only
4lbs. from my December goal!!!!!!

Good Luck and
don’t get discouraged - our bodies are all
different!

Gera.

Dee,

I just realized how much weight you
have lost in 9 weeks - we are at the same time post-op
and you have lost alot of weight. I wouldn’t worry
about failing if I were you - It sounds like you are
doing GREAT!!!

Also, my doctor told me that as
you start getting down (he told me towards 200#) the
weight loss starts to slow down. Frustrating when you
lose so much initially!

So - Congratulations
on your weight loss!!!!

Gera.

Gera ,
thanks for the vote of
confidence…;o)
I am trying to get over this little plateau, but I
had a goal of 300lbs for christmas.
As long as I
just don’t stop losing now I’ll be happy.
Your
weight loss is great too.!
I love to see everyone
doing so well.
thanks again,
Dee

Hi there!
There are a few, but i am only
familiar with my own doctors! He is Stephen Schechner and
he has his at Leigh Memorial Hospital on Monday
Nights at 6pm in the meeting room behind the cafeteria.
If you want more inforamtion please call his office
directly at 497-3434. They are all very nice and helpful.
Did you have your surgery locally? Are you sure your
own doctor does not have any support? Are you doing
your exercises, drinking your water, and avoiding
sugar and fat in every bite? Our nurse says "no sugar
in the 1st 3 ingredients!" so if sugar or a sugar
(like high fructose corn syrup is #1,2, or 3 then it is
a NO NO for me… Good luck and i will look for you

Hi Dee,I live on the Peninsula and there is a
support group that meets once a month at the Riverside
Conference Center on Warwick Blvd in Newport News. I just
went to a meeting on 12-8-99. The group is sponsored
by my surgeon, Thomas Clark. The next meeting is Jan
12, 2000 and you are more than welcomed to attend.
