I would consult with a neurologist about the
surgery and have her/him contact your Surgery Doc. They
and the anethetist should be able to keep things
under control. From what I understand they pretty much
induce coma when they anethetize us for surgery (the
same with any surgery). So, I would have them all get
together and discuss your case.
Take care!
Cathy

Hi, I'm new to group and havn't had surgery yet.
I'm waiting for insurance approval. My question is;
has any one out there who has had surgery have a
seizure disorder? I suffered several seizures 2 years
ago. I haven't had any since but I still take an
anticonvulsant medication. My surgeon says that I'm a great
candidate for the surgery but he's not real excited about
my neurological history. Any thoughts?

Just want you to really think it through. I had
roux-en-y gastric bypass and have had people say to me,
"you took the easy way out". It is NOT the easy way
out. There are intense psychological issues, as well
as an entire lifestyle change to deal with. Im
over-all glad I did it, but it didnt come without alot of
pain, sickness, malnutrition, and mental issues. Think
it over long and hard and God bless you and the
decision you make.

HI,
I was 300lbs from the time I was 19 until
I was 24.
I had thought about a gastric bypass
most of my adult life.
But, I wasn't ready. Then
when my health started to fail and I realized I was
weighing 370lbs I made a descision.
This is something
you have to do for yourself.
And you must remember
do not do it until you are sure it is what you
want.
Good luck in what ever you decide,
Dee (in Va)
