Plateau’s, etc.

Hello Everyone: I have read a lot of posts about
"little" weight losses or hitting plateaus. Since I am
2-1/2 yrs post-op I will impart a little bit of my
experiences for anyone that is interested. Plateau’s are
NORMAL. Your body losses such a great amount of weight
that periodically your body stops and adjusts to its
new weight before the weight loss will start again.
Don’t get discouraged, this is nothing that isn’t
normal. Also, even though you are only losing two pounds
don’t be surprised if all of a sudden you drop a great
amount of weight. I once lost five pounds overnight
after 2-3 weeks of losing nothing. When you starting
adding up all those 2 pounds here and two pounds there,
it really does add up. And remember those two pounds
lost, probably will never come back again. I say,

"probably" because I have gained weight and then turned
around and lost it again. Don’t get too
discouraged…..this IS different from dieting and exercise. It is so
early in recovery….give yourself a chance. I know I
am rambling, but hopefully I am making sense to
someone. Take things slow……every pound adds up to one
terrific weight loss.

Helen (pre-op: 255 lbs.)
