Thanks Cindy, Linda, and Lisa... you made me feel
so much better. Its so hard to get used to this new
life, and I have days where I feel like begging my dr.
to reverse it. I had a bad flu, and its making its
rounds in my house.. yuck. I'm feeling a lot better now.
And thanks so much for your support.
Big huge bear
hugs,
Laura

Laura,
I understand how you feel.I had
surgery on 1 November and after weeks of not eating and
feeling sore and awful I sat down one day and had a great
cry. After I got it all out I reached for the phone
and made a hair appointment to have my hair cut and
highlighted. I made sure it wasin three days and prepared for
it by resting and getting mentally ready. Know what,
it helped more than I can tell you. In fact, it
helped me turn a corner. Your healing will come from
inside out. Your doctor sounds typically, but remember
we are here with practical advice and having been
there can help where and when we can. Reach out and try
to remember what the gains are. Remember, you are
relearning new ways of living. That's the hardest for me. I
used food for comfort, I am now learning to walk,

write and open up to new challenges rather than food.
Once you get the hang of it, and I'm still trying,
it's rather fun. Remember we are there for you,
always. I'm down 41 lbs since 1 November, and I've felt
like you did, am now seeing how good my life can be
now that this weight is being lifted from my life.
We're there for you. Linda

Laura,
I am most concerned about you. I have
heard some people feel like crap the first 2-3
months... and that can be bad but okay... but the main
thing that concerns me is that you feel you can't talk
to your doctor and that he is not addressing your
concerns! Folks--those of you that are looking into this
surgery--that is one of the most important things! This is a
life changing, drastic surgery that is appropriate for
many people, but of my friends that are doctors they
have told me, there are many surgeons out ther doing
this for all the wrong reasons and that the AFTER care
is just as important as the surgery itself! Laura...
please run... don't walk to your doctor and tell him ALL
your worries and concerns! If you have a hard time
talking to him... talk to his nurse... and/or write them

down and go over them like a checklist! I hope he runs
a support group... if he does...GO! Ask other
patients of HIS what they have felt like what they have
done... obviously you are reacting a little differently
from the majority... but there maybe others with ideas
and help for you! A great example of the differences
is between me and Lisa Boone... we have had the same
surgery in the same city by 2 different doctors.. and 2
months after the surgery she was still not eating normal
food. My doctor gave me week to week of what I could
eat... hers didn't. Mine runs a weekly support group,
hers doesn't. She has lost more weight than me... but
I have lost a lot too! (76 lbs since 8/2) and I am
older with many other health complications... she is
younger with small children... one she was still nursing
when she had the surgery. So we are also different
people with somewhat different results... but both of us
are resourceful and have used as many as possible
resources to help us make this a healthy life-long
transition a successful one! I hope you feel better soon.. I
will certainly be praying for you!

But
please... please talk to your doctor... you have paid him
enough... he owes you piece of mind!
Cindy... aka
