Photos and Doctors

WOW LISA!!! You look so good!!! I started with
your beginning picture and then right to your present
picture!!! Holy Cow! You must feel so good. Do you have a
stomach apron? I know that I do but I can hide it pretty
good. <br><br>Anyway, I wanted to address the comment
that many have said about their doctors. I can’t
believe how nieve regular doctors can be about this type
of surgery. My doctor was so upset that I had this
surgery. She won’t even congratulate me on my weight loss.
So, don’t get discourage by the way your regular
doctor reacts to your decision to look into this
surgery. If we went by their remarks, no one would have
this surgery done and we would be living our lifes in
misery.<br><br>Happy New Year to Everyone. Helen

Helen,<br>When I went to my PCP in January 1999
(first time seeing him), I told him about the surgery
and he said, "well, it looks like you would be a good
candidate."<br>After having the surgery, my mom went to see this same
doctor and mentioned that she was my mom and that I had
the surgery. He told her that he did not want me to
have it, but I was so determined when I was in to see
him, he didn’t even try to talk me out of it. <br>I
don’t think he could have talked me out of it, but I am
not normally a very agressive or strong willed person
and I am surprised that I came off that way to him.
<br>I gave the Adkins’ diet my last ditch effort at a
    structured diet, in Nov-Dec 1998. I lost 15 pounds in 2
weeks and not another pound for the next 5 weeks. I
didn’t cheat, and it is a pretty hard diet to follow.

This was even during the holidays. When it didn’t
work, I had already made up my mind- my only option was
surgery. <br>I have not seen my PCP doctor since I was 2
months post op and I had lost about 45 pounds by then.
My doctor was not too impressed. Since it has now
been 5 months and I am down 83 pounds, I am looking
forward to his reaction. I know he has no other patients
that have had this surgery. I have to go for a regular
check up (Pap and mammo) in the next couple of months.
I hope to be down 100 pounds by then and see if he
has a favorable comment at that time.<br>Sue

Helen, thank you! It feels good to almost be done
with the "loss" part.<br>It has gone by quickly for
me. Yes, I do havean apron, and trying to master the
tricks of "Hiding" it. :)<br>I am going to see my docotr
tomorrow about getting referred about the tummy tuck.
<br>The do it at the Naval Hospital, so maybe I can get
referred for the spring.<br>Adam and I have been talking.
He wants one more child before I have the tummy
tuck. Personally, I don’t want any more children. I am
happy with the two beautiful boys God has given me, but
Adam despritely wants another, so my tummy tuck may
wait. I know that I absolutely do not want to get
pregnant for at least another six months or so. My
physician said to wait at least until a year from
    surgery.<br>We’ll see… <br>Lisa B.
