my 8 wk checkup

Tuesday, August 26th, 2003

Well, I went to see my doc, and he told me to
throw my scale out the window and rely on him. Maybe I
will do just that.
I’m actually down 15 pounds in
this past month, which makes my grand total 49 lbs. in
8 weeks. Not too shabby! So my esteem is back off
the floor once again. whew.
(Where ARE the pics? I
wanna see pics :(

question ???

Monday, August 25th, 2003

I had surgery on Nov 18 had a complication 2
weeks later with bleeding ulcers. Now I have a
different problem. I am nauseaus (sp) all the time and in
the last two days I’ve had. to work real hard to keep
my food down. I don’t think I am eating too much.
Has anyone else had this problem. My doctor says it
is Keytosis (sp) and that it will last a month or
two. But I have never seen this addressed before. I
read daily or you can email me with any help or
suggestions. Thank you Mae

Plateau’s, etc.

Sunday, August 24th, 2003

Hello Everyone: I have read a lot of posts about
"little" weight losses or hitting plateaus. Since I am
2-1/2 yrs post-op I will impart a little bit of my
experiences for anyone that is interested. Plateau’s are
NORMAL. Your body losses such a great amount of weight
that periodically your body stops and adjusts to its
new weight before the weight loss will start again.
Don’t get discouraged, this is nothing that isn’t
normal. Also, even though you are only losing two pounds
don’t be surprised if all of a sudden you drop a great
amount of weight. I once lost five pounds overnight
after 2-3 weeks of losing nothing. When you starting
adding up all those 2 pounds here and two pounds there,
it really does add up. And remember those two pounds
lost, probably will never come back again. I say,

8 weeks and the weight loss stops here 2

Saturday, August 23rd, 2003

Well! Its nice to know that I’m not the only one
that seems to have hit this huge plateau! This is no
joke, I have lost (I think) 3 pounds in a month. I go
to my surgeon for my 8 wk checkup this afternoon and
I just know I will sit down and cry. I have been
drinking my water, bought a treadmill, and done everything
I could! Help! The last person was right, was is
the use of all this pain and suffering for nothing!?
Seriously discouraged here.
Laura

6 weeks and the weight loss stops

Saturday, August 23rd, 2003

Today Im a bit discouraged. I had lost 30 pounds
in 4 weeks when I noticed a severe drop in weight
loss to about 2 pounds in a week. I knew I wasnt
drinking any water so I even started gagging down 2 sports
bottles a day. Today I stood on the scale and again only
lost 2 pounds in the last week. I have to wonder, if I
have to watch every food label, drink water until I
float away and work out every other day, then why the
heck did I bother going through all the pain and
sickness of surgery? 2 pounds a week is what I lost when I
dieted on my own. Sorry, Im frustrated that Im finally
not sick anymore and the weight loss slows down so
drastically.. Im 30, gastric bypass now at 303 pounds.

pregnancy after RNY gastric Bypass

Thursday, August 21st, 2003

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who
can educate me on pregnancy after RNY. Im only 5
weeks post op and have no immediate plans, but being a
newlywed and only 30, Im hopeful that the future can bring
a healthy child. I get alot of conflicting
information depending on which doctor I ask. My surgeon says
it would be fine, my general doctor said its highly
unlikely to carry a healthy baby to term. I find I get
better info just asking people who would know first
hand.
