effects of alchohol

Tuesday, August 19th, 2003

I was told that after Roux-en-y gastric bypass
that i would be a very "cheap drunk". My doctor said
drinking alchohol now would be almost like shooting it
into my veins and that Id get intoxicated on 1/10th
the usual amount.
Many many others tell me this
is untue. Im not a big drinker anyways but wonder if
this is true before I have a small glass of wine at a
dinner function and end up humiliating myself. Am I
limited to just sips now?

Sunday, August 17th, 2003

My surgery date has been moved to Tuesday Dec
14th
at 7:30 am. It is just one day from the
original
date but all my preparations had to be changed.
Mentally one day is a lot. Oh well - One bonus the
hospital is putting my dw and I up in a motel for the
night before surgery. Yeah - NO KIDS just the two of
us.

Bob

Depressed

Saturday, August 16th, 2003

Hi, guys. How is everyone? I’m doing a little
better, not near as much pain, but I do still have
Pancreatitis. However, I think that it is getting better. I
think I’m already on a plateau on my weight, if you can
believe that. It’s already getting me down. My surgery
(open rny) was on 11/22/99 & as of last Friday, 12/3, I
had lost 15 lbs. But over the weekend I found myself
snacking a couple of times on stuff I know I’m not
supposed to have, & unfortunately I did not get sick or
even full, really. (It was nachos & 1/2 a hot dog).
For the post-ops, do you snack on junk at all? Also,
when should I start exercising?
I keep weighing &
the scale seems to be staying in about the same
place. Maybe a pound or so down, not much. It seems like
last week every time I got on the scale it would go

Mae, Just wandering if you were still out there.
I haven’t heard from you in a while and was
wondering how your recovery is coming along? Post when you
can. :)
Trudy, Congratulations on your surgery. It
may take a few days to get comfortable in bed again.
I am glad you are doing so well. :)
Your

I’m Post-Op Now

Friday, August 15th, 2003

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 1 Dec and I’m
home now doing great, just trying to get my strenght
back, I didn’t sleep very well last night, can’t seem
to find a comfortable position. I was very scared
going in but had no problems. My scare looks good
compared to what I thought it would, you hear horror
stories. I think my scare will heal with very little
marking, which I’m very thankful for. It is just very hard
at this point trying to figure out how much. I
really don’t feel hungry at all, I have to force myself
to eat. My doctor (Dr Seay) and the hospital staff
were the best I have come in contact with, they made
it very easy for me. Well I need to get some rest,
but I’m on the other side…..
