Sorry everyone for not posting… I have been
sooo busy lately. Well, I am doing pretty good. I am
down 116# since my surgery on July 13th. I am hoping
to get down to 180 by Christmas. I am at 188 right
now. I feel really good. and miss you all!!! Can’t
wait till I develope and post new photos. <br>Good

Wow, I can’t get over all the new names
here..most<br>of you probably don’t even know who I am!<br>Well,
just to bring you up to date…for the ones that
remember me…*grin*<br>I just broke the 125 pounds lost
mark today. I am almost 8 months post op and feeling
really good. I want to lose another 75 pounds but my
doctor thinks I’m not being realistic and that maybe 50
pounds more would be more in line. I guess I’ll just
have to wait and see what happens. My weight loss has
slowed down a bit but I was told that was to be expected
and frankly my doctor thought I would have slowed
down with the rapid weight loss around six months but
it just started slowing down this last month. The
one thing that troubles me the most is the hair loss.

Today I went to my family doctor and he was
wonderful! He told me he had no problem referring me to a
gastro-doctor. He volunteered to write a letter to my insurance.
I didn’t even have to ask! He wasn’t very
optimistic about the insurance paying. That was a big
disappoinment. He said he would do anything he could from his
end. He is such a sweetheart. He told me the Dr. he
was going to refer me to was Dr. Joe Roh. Any body
ever heard of him? Not sure if the spelling is
correct. I should get the referral next week, then I’ll
need to make an apt with Dr. Roh. Wish me luck!
Hi! I have a question since the topic lately is
alcohol. I read somewhere that since the
nutrients/sugars/bad stuff get dumped into our bloodstreams quicker,
that the chances for alcohol poisoning are greater? Is
this true?<br><br>Laura
Hey, guys. I have a question for you. I am still
having pain (my surgery was 11/22) so I went to the ER
last night. They found that my Lipase level was high
(about 500) & so they think either I have an inflamed
pancreas or a leak (stomach acid onto my pancreas). Has
anyone heard of this complication before? I’m going to
my Dr. again tomorrow–he’s checking my blood again.
I’ll keep you updated. The good news is I’ve lost 10
lbs already (in one week). Yea!!!<br><br>Love

Hi, everyone. I’ve been reading up on the posts.
Well, I had my surgery (open rny) on 11/22/99, & I got
out of the hospital today. I’m still on full liquids,
so I’m feeling very deprived due to today being
Thanksgiving. I didn’t think I’d feel this way, but I do. My
stomach is not hungry, but my brain is. I’m sure the
post-ops understand. Well, about my surgery, I have one
thing to say: IT HURTS. Way more than anyone has said
or implied. Maybe I’m a total wimp, but they had me
on tons of morphine & demoral & it wasn’t helping.
It was like that for the day & night of the surgery,
& got somewhat better the next day. Much better
now. And I’ve had pain before (2 c-sections plus going
through some labor on the first one, for example).

Delano Regional medical Center? or Do you know anything
about Dr. Ara Keshishian from there(Delano,
Calif.)<br>I’m from Canada and asked if anyone knew about a
doctor in Canada who does surgery on persons over 50…I
received a lovely letter and brouchure all about the
surgery even with an insert for a motel to stay at before
and after surgery…drawback is that they say in the
letter that the cost is anywhere from $20,000 to 25,000
depending on medical history…before I find out if
Canadian Ins Co pay out of country-which I doubt–I wanted
to find out if anyone knows anything about this

to think that so many people have either had this
type of surgery or are contemplating it. I haven’t
posted in a long time, but I read all the messages and
take every one to heart as it gives me the support I
need to face each day. I had my surgery over two years
ago and I wish I had known there were so many people
out there like myself…boy could I have used the
support then. I am thankful, however, today for each
question, comment and word of encouragement even though it
isn’t directed toward me. I sometimes wonder how many
people I see in the Mall’s might have had this type of
surgery, and I am not even aware of it. I feel bad for the
ones struggling with their insurance companies and for
those trying to conquer their life after surgery and
wish all the best for those that are looking toward

Hello Everyone,<br><br>My name is Belinda. I had
the stapling years ago and it has worked for me. But
I am here now in hopes of being able to get support
as my honey will be going through the by-pass next
year. While I am scared for him I do want to support
him in what he wants to do. I love him so VERY much.
I have heard so many bad and good things about this
type of surgery that I have to admit that it does
scare me. But I will not have my fear stand in his way
of what he wants to do for his self. So I want some
support to pass onto him and some to keep for myself
too… along the way. If anyone lives in or near
Springfield, Ohio that’s had this done please let me know. Jim
lived in CA.. but now he’s here with me to stay. So he
will be having it done here
