48 HOURS
Watched the program on 48 Hours and was pleased
to see them do a story about gastric by-pass
surgery. 20/20 also had a program about the day in the
life of an Obese person, but I opted for 48 Hours. I
got a little upset when they kept referring to the
surgery as "drastic." Dr. Fobi seemed to put the reporter
in his place though when he said, "Compared to
what." Since diets don’t work…..surgery can not be
compared to something that is not successful. I was so
pleased for the young girl, "Ruth Ann." I am hoping for
such good things for her. I believe at the end of the
show she had all ready lost 105 pounds. What a GREAT
accomplishment!!! I wish there was someway we could get a hold of
her and her mother and let them know that we are all
out here. I am sure they could hear me cheer all the
way over here on the East coast. Helen

Saw the special on 48 hours. Had my surgery on 1
november and am down 50 lbs. I feel great. Best thing I
ever did. My surgeon and I were a team. He had the
skills to perform the surgery and I researched and
discovered and ASKED until I was well informed. And thanks
to this wonderful chat group, I knew pretty much
what was about to happen. I say pretty much, because
we are all different. Anyway, as with everyone else
my heart and prayers goes out to the mother and
daughter who had the courage and strength to make right
what nature somehow messed up. In fact, hats off to
all of us brave souls. I am thankful for my wonderful
doctor and this support network. Together we are helping
one another, and ourselves. More power to us!! And to
Ruthie and her mom!!
