Kitty kat, tell your doc to forget it! You are
going through enough, last thing you need to do is
deprive yourself of anything NOW when after the surgery
it will be a No-No for the rest of your
LIFE!

And Dbl-D32, I have to tell you, I have no cravings
for things that are bad for me.. the cravings for
things sweet are GONE! I think that it works that way
for many... things that tasted good before are NOW
too sweet for me, so I couldn't even imagine a
dessert sweet to eat!

Godd luck to both of
you!
Cindy

Hi kittykat, although my Dr is not requiring me to
loose weight before my surgery. I know even though we
can not eat the things we use to, the cravings will
still be there. 9 more days before surgery and
counting.

Hi Dbl D32 I know how you feel. I am having a
hard time now with really trying to watch what I eat
since my doctor wants me to lose a little weight before
the surgery. I just want to eat anything now since I
know that things will be different after the surgery.
My surgery is the day before yours. Please e-mail me
if possible of your progress. I would love to hear
from you.

Helen,
Depending on what your doctor says, you
shouldn't have to miss out on a little ice cream.. The key
is moderation. If I have a little ice cream
"attack"... :) I just take a tsp. of some and eat it...
granted.. I eat the breyers "no sugar added".. but ice
cream is ice cream. Even dairy queen has no-sugar-added
items on their menu. Granted, I do do it in such
moderation that I bought a pint in Oct.. and it is still 3/4
full..lol
Better dump it and get some fresh before it starts
smelling like the freezer.
Same with cookies or
whatever. My surgeon (as long as your dr. says ok) told me
to try the fifty/50 brand of stuff. I usually only
eat one or two every two weeks, but little cravings
aren't bad... I wouldn't be able to fit it in otherwise.
Trying to get all my protein and etc.. :)
Take

care!
Lisa B.

I have found that I still have the craving for
sweets such as candy, donuts, cake, etc. BUT the big
difference since the surgery is the fact that if I try to
eat them I become so sick that I have learned it is
not worth the trouble. Just thinking about a piece of
cake anymore makes my stomach turn. Hopefully you will
experience this too and giving up those "things" you didn't
think you could live without becomes very easy. I never
thought I would live without ice cream but I can always
find something better to munch on when the family is
having an ice cream night. Good Luck....Helen (surgery

Dbl_d32
Actually there is something about this
surgery that makes things taste TOO sweet to you... but
the biggest thing is making sure you don't eat them
anyways and then making yourself accustomed to it again!
There are people out there that can and do eat
everything and anything they want, but remember, you are
going through an awful lot to gain your health back,
you wouldn't want to take the chance of spoiling your
chance of a healthy long life for a few cookies, when a
nice fruit salad will also satisfy that craving for
"something" sweet.

Good Luck, and I will be praying
for you!
Cindy aka gonna_doit_thistime (AND I
AM!)
OPEN RNY 8/2/99
preop 298
current 210
(I'm
getting there guys,
thanks for all the well wishes!)
