Obesity surgery

IM INTERESTED IN THIS SURGERY, MY PCP FINALLY
WROTE MY REFERRAL LETTER,I SEE A SURGEON END OF MARCH.I
MAY NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR THIS SURGERY,45 W/BMI
38, BUT AM HAVING MEDICAL PROBLEMS HEEL
SPURS,SOB,BACK PAIN AND WITH FAMILY HIS. OF HEART,CANCER AND
DIBETIES,I’M AFRAID OF HAVING HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF. I HAVE
TRIED THE DIET PILLS EVERYONE THAT IS OUT THERE..AND
EVEN SPENT 3GRAND AT NUTRISYSTEM,ONLY TO REGAIN ALL
THEWT. BACK..I’M DESPERATE..ANY ADVICE OUT THERE FOR ME?

Hey everyone<br>there is a nation wide Gas
protest, so don’t buy Gas April 6,7,8 I don’t know about
all of you but I am tired of paying the high prices
for gas, here in Florida it is $153 per gallon and
that is highway robery. So buy your gas April 5th and
the 9th lets force these prices down. The last time
they started raising them that is what they did and
they did lower the prices.

I was just wondering when you can eat more than 2
ounces of food. I know I can eat a nice variety of foods
now. Most of the time 2 ozs is more than sufficiant
but sometimes when I eat a soup with little substance
it doesn’t seem to be enough. I don’t seem full. I
don’t want to do anything to jeopardize my weight loss
so I continue to take 2 ozs at all meals. I don’t
want to push my luck. Lisa, How long were you or are
you still at this small of a proportion. Could
somebody shed some light on this for me. I would really
appreciate it. Thank You

Well, I have a (date) set for my VBG on 4/3/00. I
go in for pre-op testing on 3/27/00. I would like to
know what type of tests to expect. Also, before
surgery I would like to weigh and measure myself. Where
exactly am I supposed to measure? I want to be able to
count every inch later on. I also have seen it
recommended to take easy to slip on slippers to the hospital,
what do you think of those non-skid socks? I would
love to hear any other suggestions you may

I found out today that my insurance has approved
my referral to a surgeon! I am so excited I can’t
think straight. I am certain the surgeon will recommend
me for surgery, then it will be up to Humana again.
But, I am hopeful now since they didn’t deny me
outright. Keep your fingers crossed!

Does aspartame, Nutrasweet cause any problems? I
know that consumed in large amounts it can cause
diarrhea. I wondered if it bothered anyone post-op. Also do
you have to eat three times a day? There are times
when I don’t eat breakfast and sometimes don’t eat
until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Is it important to eat
more regularly? <br> Happy St. Patricks Day everyone!

Has anyone been approved through Healthpartners? I am showing that it is
covered, but I am also told or heard that it is hard to be approved.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal. All of the
sudden, Im having these VERY realistic dreams, or should
I say nightmares. The dreams are all a little
different except for this part….Im standing naked in my
closet desperately trying to find clothes that fit. Im
too fat to fit into ANYTHING&gt; I cant even pull
socks over my feet. In these dreams, Im always late for
something very important, which makes me more desperate,
but none of my clothes fit. I end up wrapping a bed
sheet around me just for modesty reasons, but am never
able to get dressed, and miss the importnt events I
was trying to get to. In these dreams, I am truly
hysterical and desperate.<br><br>Whats going on here? I have
this type of dream twice a week and its playing games
with my head. I know the subconscious is a powerful

The bad news is my insurance is not, under any
circumstance, going to pay for my surgery. The good
news…looks like I will be getting a loan for the surgery,
thanks to my mother! I should be setting a date in the
next couple of days. I am hoping for a beginning to
middle of April date. I had asked mid to late Feb, if
everything was approved that day, when would the surgery be
scheduled and she said mid March. So I can only hope for
mid April. I don’t want to draw out the waiting much

I talked to Humana yesterday and was told they
asked my drs. office for my medical records. Well at
least I wasn’t denied straight out! I am still not very
hopeful. My medical records don’t really express my need
for surgery. As I said before I never really complain
to my dr about anything. I have learned to deal with
a lot! I have a feeling that is going to hurt me.
My medical records will show a steady weight gain
over the past 10 years, but, little else. I have
suffered with bouts of depression due to weight, not sure
if that will help or hinder my case. I feel like I
am waiting for a big let down. It is so depressing.
<br> I come here all the time to read all the posts,
although I don’t always post myself. All of your stories
are so uplifting and encouraging. I personally am
