I knew what you meant when you said "heart failure" It’s kind of like saying
"Having a cow." What you said was clear. Please don’t stop posting. This is
also my first post. Since it is a support group I feel we should be supportive.
We are all judged so harshly by other people. We should post here without
feeling like we are under a microscope. This is a scary and exciting time for us
all. We are taking control of our lives and being there for each other. I think
this is the greatest.

I called my doctors office yesterday and a written evaluation is required by my
insurence company NALC. The office is sending it this week. As soon as thay
get a reply I’ll have a surgery date. Openeings are available for August and
September. Gone on vacation so hold all. Maureen

Just like a figure of speech to start that kind of hub-bub. What a relief to
me to know that your sister supports you. I really mean that. My husband makes
everything a compition, maybe thats the old navy man in him. I love him, and
he, although he’s over weight will not have this surgery, supports me 100%. Yes
some of us do get our hackles up but please do not let this stop you from
posting. I for one want to hear how you are progressing and if I can I’ll help.

Ok, well this could be one reason why I do not post…..have those of
you that thought what I said was so harsh ever heard of the
expression **figure of speech**. That is exactly what I meant by
having heart failure. My sister is one of the poeple in my family
who is most rpud of me for what I have accomplished so far. we by no
means "compete" she has always been alot smaller that I and we have
always talked about my weight. My sister is no where near heart
failure, she is in perfect health and if she were near heart failure
I certainly would not be laughing about it! I guess maybe no one
understands my sense of humor, but those who responded on my behalf.
I just want to make it clear that I was not being harsh towards my
sister, she is excited that I am catching down to her weight!!

I think the surgeons who won’t operate on smokers are doing it because
they feel that smokers’ bodies don’t heal as fast as a non-smoker. I’ve
heard mentioned in other places of people who stopped smoking just so
that their chosen surgeons would operate on them.

thinking on it for a long time over year now and found who i thought was
going to do it and just now got a call saying want do surgery if i smoke
is there anyone out there who has a doc who will do it even if paatient
is a smoker thanks for input cindy wright

I’m writing in hopes of enlightening some of us who are not so sensitive about
fat discrimination. Weight does not seem to me a valid compititon for siblings.
I would hope that after being morbidly obese for so long that my brothers and
sister would be happy for me to lose my excess weight. Not so jelouse as to "
have a heart attack, ha ha" because my weight is below theirs. I take fat
discrimination very seriously. It affects our ability to get jobs or promotions
even though we are quilified. Because of it we are subjected to hate and
rejection in many forms. I need not go further with the details because we all
know what they are.

Maybe this young lady used not politically correct terms to state the
compitition between she and her sister. If this is the kind of relationship
that thay have I hope that thay can come to terms and be friends with each
other. My friends and family want only the best for me. It seems that her
sister only wants to win. That’s sad. Only my opinion. That and 35 cents will

get me a local phone call. Maureen

I think perhaps the ‘heart failure’ was because the sister was no longer
going to be the smallest sibling (which is why she added the haha). I don’t
think anyone could joke about real heart failure. (I’ve said I’d go into
heart failure if I were to ever win the lottery. Most people know that I’m
joking.)

I’m hoping the sister is just a bit peeved because she will no longer be the
thinnest sibling, and that she truly isn’t having heart failure.

Hi! This is the first time I’ve responded to the Group. I just got my
insurance approval for the first doctor I’ve chosen, but now decided to go
with a different doctor. The insurance letter said they approved me because
of medical necessity so I’m not anticipating a problem when I call them with
a different doctor. Has anyone done this before?
