Deductibles
First off I am extremely happy for you Lisa and
Kitty Kat for your success. Next I have a question for
any one who may have the same situation. I have a PPO
insurance and there is an out of pocket expense and a
deductible. Does anybody know if that has to be paid prior to
the surgery? I am afraid of jinxing the surgery if I
call my insurance company. I got my letter today
approving a 3 day stay in the hospital. I hope that is
enough time. Let me know your thoughts. I truly am
greatful for the support that everyone has given

You wont jinx it by making a call. Once it is
approved, its approved. Although you should call the
hospital and ask their policy, and then call the doctor
and ask theirs. The hospital and the doctor bill
seperately. The hospitals here would require upfront payment,
but your doctor may be more willing to work with you.
I am concerned that you can only stay 3 days in the
hospital though. My husband and I both have had the
surgery and there was no way either of us was ready to
leave after 3 days.

Hi Nancy, I don’t know who your surgeon is, but
with my surgeon at BTC in Michigan, I didn’t have to
pay anything upfront. They verified my insurance
coverage beforehand, and warned me that I would probably
have to pay about 3,000 out-of-pocket because I was
going out of network. After my hospital stay was over,
they sent all the bills to my insurance company, and
once the insurance company had paid their portion of
each bill, the hospital billed me for the remainder. I
paid the bills promptly and got a 10% discount. Hope
this helps.

tremendously!!! HUGGS to you! I too am going to be at the BTC
Michigan hospital in Addison. Was it Addison, Michigan you
went to? I know I will have an out of pocket expense
but I don’t care. I can’t seem to keep my weight down
even a little. I don’t have long to go my surgery date
is March 13. That has always been a lucky number for

I did leave after three days! I had my surgery on monday and went home on
