Good and Bad News…….
The bad news is my insurance is not, under any
circumstance, going to pay for my surgery. The good
news…looks like I will be getting a loan for the surgery,
thanks to my mother! I should be setting a date in the
next couple of days. I am hoping for a beginning to
middle of April date. I had asked mid to late Feb, if
everything was approved that day, when would the surgery be
scheduled and she said mid March. So I can only hope for
mid April. I don’t want to draw out the waiting much
longer!

Tracy

Tracy, try an appeal first. You can state your
case, and maybe even just get them to agree to pay a
portion of it. This surgery is very expensive and dont
put yourself that deep in debt if theres a chance
insurance will pay for it.
You can usually get an appeal
within a few weeks. Ask for a board appeal so they have
to seeyou in person.

The problem I am having with my ins. includes an
exclusion. Had they just worded the exclusion differently, I
would not be having such a hard time with them paying.
In the exclusion, it specifically states…that for
no reason, medically necessary or not, they will not
cover any means to reduce weight, surgically or
otherwise for obesity or morbid obesity. They had thought
out their exclusion very well it appears. My doctors
office works with someone particular and said we don’t
have a leg to stand on. That is why I have decided to
self-pay this early on. Why add another $1,000.00 to a
bill that is already going to end up running
$14,000.00? I am basically choosing to cut my losses. I
figure a 5 year loan and living long enough to pay it
out is better than the other option.lol. Also, I
figure, I have wasted more time, effort, and money on
things far less important than this before.

Well,
anyways, I’ll be sitting here the next 2 weeks sweating it
out until my tentative date of April 3rd rolls
around. Can’t wait to get on the other side, where the
grass really is greener!

Tracy
