Greetings!

Thursday, October 16th, 2003

Hello! <br>Just joined this club a few days ago
and want to say "nice to meet’cha" to you all! Im
pre-op: BMI 42, surgery sometime in Apr/May. Ive been
trying to find people who have had surgery -
specifically RNY - 3 or more years ago. Im a bit worried that
all the postings ive been able to come across from
these "veterans" reveal that they have gained back some
of the weight. I realize that your body has to find
its natural weight, but is there anyone out there who
has NOT regained anymore than 5-10 lbs?<br>Thanks!

his support group? Thanks in advance.<br>Karen

I’m Back =)

Tuesday, October 14th, 2003

Hello to everyone. I’ve just done a zoom through
of many, many messages. You’re all inspirations. I
joined this group a few months ago to explore surgery as
an option; I unjoined with the thought that I would
try one last monumental effort to lose weight on my
own. Well….I’m back. Surgery is such a scary
thought, but dying at 34 is even scarier. I’m now
convinced that this is what I must do to live and see my
child grow up.<br><br>I do have a couple of questions
for you ol’ timers. =) What sort of post-op time is
needed for recuperation? I realize that it varies, but
I’m looking for a general idea. Also, has anyone had
the surgery done by Dr. Wetter in San Mateo,
California?<br><br>I’m beginning a journey…hopefully one that will
lead me to a happier, more fulfilling place than I’ve

Redo Operation?

Monday, October 13th, 2003

I was wondering if anyone has had a redo
operation? I had the surgery in April 94 and have been
gaining weight back. I’m not sure of the exact terms, it
was the stapling with the plastic ring. I haven’t had
any pain or discomfort but I talked to the doctor’s
office and they tell me there is a new bypass type
surgery. It will limit you sugar intake. <br>Has anyone
had to have a redo surgery? <br>I would redo it in a
mintue but now I’m being laid off and need to get my
insurance back in order before I can. I didn’t gain all my
weight back but I’m afraid to be heading that way.
<br>I’m always hungry. <br>Any help would be appreciated.

I have a skinny friend who constantly made
comments like…."why dont you just stop eating?" or this
one, "Why dont you just exercize?" This is how I got
her to understand. <br><br>I had her stand up and
close her eyes. Then I told her to imagine herself in a
real large jumpsuit with huge pockets all over. She
agreed. As she was standing there visualizing this I told
her that I will be placing 10 pound bowling balls in
the pockets one by one. <br>I said, "where I touch
you, imagine I have just placed a bowling ball in that
pocket."<br><br>I tapped each butt cheek adding 20 pounds, I tapped
her belly twice adding 20 more. I tapped each thigh
adding 20 more, each calf adding 20 more. Now she is 80
pounds overweight. <br><br>But she isnt done….. I was
trying to make her understand how "I" feel, and I was

Carnie Wilson

Sunday, October 12th, 2003

Did anyone see Carnie Wilson featured on last
nights, Entertainment Tonight. She was at 300 lbs and has
now lost 102 lbs. She says she wants to lose another
60 pounds. She really looked great. There are so
many more of us out here, however, I wish someone
would make the effort to speak on our behalf and not
just on their own. I always thought Roseanne did a
wonderful job when she had Dr. Fobi on her show…..she
left everyone know that she wasn’t the only one that
had or needed this type of surgery. Just thought I
would share….Thanks…Helen

Barbie

Saturday, October 11th, 2003

Hello: If there is a "Barbie" on this site that
tried to contact me privately: I tried to e-mail you
but your messages kept getting returned to me. I
would like to discuss my surgery experience with you,
but unless I can get a message through to you….it
might be impossible. Thanks for writing to me…Helen

help!!!!

Friday, October 10th, 2003

Hi, I’m a new member and would like to talk to
<br>anyone that has had the surgury done. I went to dr.
yesterday and now I am waiting on insurance approval. I
really don’t take this lightly and am not looking
forward to surgury. I have had 4 c-sections, so
understand the pain. I feel this is my last hope. I lost my
oldest child 6 yrs. ago in a car wreck and the last 6
years have been very<br>difficult, at times I’ve not
wanted to go on. I know if I want to be here for my
other 3 kids I need to have this done. Please help me
with any advice or information you can. thank
you,<br>spacedoutagain
