Just wanted everyone to know that I posted a new
picture on the photos site today. Hope you have a chance
to check it out. I love looking at everyone else’s
photos. They are so inspirational even though I have all
ready had my surgery.

Helen Sawyer

Nancy

Wednesday, October 8th, 2003

Hi Nancy, congrats on your approval. I wouldn’t
be concerned about calling them.. There’s only one
way you will find out.
I was admitted at 1pm on a
Tuesday. I left at 9 am that Friday.. so I don’t think 3
days will be bad.
I had two whole days, plus one
morning and one evening.. so in all I had three days.
Most insurances WILL extend if there are
complications. (God forbid)
I wish you the best of
luck!
Thank you for the comment. :)
Your Friend,
Lisa

Deductibles

Wednesday, October 8th, 2003

First off I am extremely happy for you Lisa and
Kitty Kat for your success. Next I have a question for
any one who may have the same situation. I have a PPO
insurance and there is an out of pocket expense and a
deductible. Does anybody know if that has to be paid prior to
the surgery? I am afraid of jinxing the surgery if I
call my insurance company. I got my letter today
approving a 3 day stay in the hospital. I hope that is
enough time. Let me know your thoughts. I truly am
greatful for the support that everyone has given
me.

Nancy Brand

new photos. :)

Wednesday, October 8th, 2003

Okay, I have put on some new photos. They aren’t
as clear as I’d like…. I think it’s time for a new
scanner..lol
I wore a two piece, so some of you pre-ops and
early post-ops could see my scar. It doesn’t show well
in the photo. I do have bad (to me) sagging skin
with my arms at the elbow. You can also see the extra
skin tucked into the shorts. (it bulges at the
tummy)… I tried the white shirt on and it just hangs, so
I thought this was better.
I still have a few
lbs. to go. :)
Hopefully by this time next year, I
will actually be toned..lol
Uh…Oh.. yes, to all
who are considering Obesity SURGERY:
I don’t want
to say that you will ook like this after your
surgery. Hopefully, you will look better, less sagging
skin and etc…! :)
But, maybe this gives you a
(more…)

I’m back, surgery date 2-15

Tuesday, October 7th, 2003

Hi this is kittykat. I am finally feeling well
enough to come on-line to talk to my friends. I am
feeling much better. My first post-op doctor visit will
be Monday. I want to thank everyone for keeping me
in their prayers. Love Carol

My PCO

Tuesday, October 7th, 2003

Talked to my pcp today! I had mailed him a letter
the first of February BEGGING him to ask my insurance
for a referral. He has sent a letter to Humana and
asked for permission to send my letter along as well.
All I can do now is sit and wait for Humana to make a
decision. I also have a name of a DR. who will take
payments, and possibly base the surgery on my income? Not
sure about the income thing, but, who knows. I want
this done so badly it is all I can think about. I
don’t really think about being skinny so much as being
able to get back out and start living again! Keep your
fingers crossed that those Humana bastards………I mean
those good people at Humana will have a heart and
approve me!! LOL

For Lisa Boone (or any others)

Tuesday, October 7th, 2003

Hi Lisa, I just viewed your photos. Am I right in
calculating that you have lost 130 pounds in about 7 months?
This is wonderful. I am 3 1/2 months post op and have
lost 65 pounds. Im averaging 2 pounds a week right
now. My question to you is about sagging skin. You
look great in your photos. Do you have a problem with
this, and if so, what do you do.
I have high blood
pressure that is brought on when I get overheated or
tired. It seems like 2 minutes of any exercize and Im
about to have a stroke. I know this will get better as
I lose weight on my own, but I worry about my
already sagging skin. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Im 30. Ive been overweight for 10 years. I was 335
pre-op and now Im 270. What can someone who cant
exercize do to limit the sagging skin?

Insurance approved!

Sunday, October 5th, 2003

Hi,
My name’s Tim and I was just approved for
RNY on March 21st! Yes, Praise God! This is terrific
news. I’m 355+ lbs. with a BMI of 52. I’m "only" 36
years old and now I will live to see my son grow up!
(Tears rolling down my cheeks!)
I will have the
surgery in Port Huron, Michigan with Dr. Ali. He’s very
good. Small hands hee-hee.
I’ll be checking back
here weekly for my WLS friends!
Tim

AESOP

Saturday, October 4th, 2003

One of the local tv stations in Kansas City did a
story on a robot named Aesop that helped with gastric
bypass surgery. The robot controls a camera. According
to the report it allows more patients to have the
surgery done laproscopically. Have any of you heard of
this? They also reported that most insurances covered
Aesop.
I am still waiting for my pcp to get the stuff
together for insurance. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hitting a wall in weight loss

Friday, October 3rd, 2003

I just went through my first plateau in my weight
loss. True to my new "can do" attitude I broke through
by upping my exercise and carefully watching what I
was eating. Lots of protein, lots of vegatables, lots
of water. Not only did I break through, but I feel
better and am down an additonal five pounds! Oh, a great
tip for anyone, like me, who still has trouble
getting plain water down, slip in a tablespoon or two of
plain lemon juice. It works for me and I’m now sipping
water all day but I stop 30 minutes before meals. My
best to all about to undergo surgery, and my best to
those who have. Linda
Had surgery in November down
60 lbs.
