In a major funk!

I found out yesterday the surgeon my pcp referred
me to does not do gastric bypass surgery! In fact
there aren’t any surgeons in KC who accept Humana that
do the surgery. So, now I have to try and convince
my HMO to allow me to go out of network to Dr. Scott
in Wentzville. I am so depressed and upset that all
I do is cry whenever i think about this. And of
course as everyone knows this is all us pre ops think
about. I am not very optimistic about being approved
now. I am still considering changing jobs, but, its
another state job and they offer the same insurance
options, all HMO’s! So, there isn’t any hope of getting
better insurance. It stinks! My pity party is still in
full swing!
Helen, have you considered finding a
different doctor? You have done so well, it is not right

that your dr. should make you feel so bad about all
you have accomplished.

If there is a will, there is a way. Just about
the time we think that things will NEVER work out,
they do. I am praying that everything goes your way.
It is unfair that this surgery isn’t offered more
extensively. As most of us KNOW, diets do not work and for
some of us, this is the only hope we have of shedding
the unwanted weight. This HMO crap is for the birds.
Never can understand the rhyme or reason for it. Don’t
they realize that the long term health care for an
obese person is far more than the one time surgery
    cost.

PS: I haven’t even thought about getting a new doctor
because, believe it or not, this doctor is 100% better
than my old doctor. My old doctor would hand me pieces
of paper with diets on them and tell me to walk five
miles a day. (Used the diets for toilet paper and sat

on my fat butt). The only doctor’s in our area
either aren’t accepting new patients or don’t speak
English. An important criteria for me. I will get my boost
in August when I go to see my weight-loss surgeon.
They are always full of praise. A great moral
    booster.

Thanks…Helen
