May 26, 2000

Hi, all, I saw the dr. on Tuesday and set my date
for sure May 26. I’ve gotten it cleared with school
and told family and friends. I can’t believe just 5
weeks. I’ve read a few horror stories lately but I’m
determined to do this. Everyone seems to say it was more
painful then they thought. I’m expecting the worse. My
dr. does an epidural before the surgery, I’m alittle
nervous about that. Anyway pray for me that the next 5
weeks will go well and I won’t gain 30 extra lbs,. from
eating out of nerves.

Did any of you see Carnie Wilson (Wilson And
Philps) on Good Morning America? She had WLS Aug.99 and
has lost 120 lbs. She is such an inspiration to go
public and say this is the best she has felt in years
and how happy she is. She is very good example for
us. I wish her the best, she still has some to go.
see ya, Barbie

Dear Barbie: I have always been pleased about
Carnie Wilson and her decision to have weight loss
surgery. The only thing that seems to bother me now is the
fact that the surgery has become acceptable. I am
putting this down all wrong….but when I had my surgery
everyone looked down their noses at me. "What a drastic
measure to go to…." Now, everyone seems to be saying,
"Oh, did you see the weigh that Carnie Wilson lost."
Why aren’t people looking down their noses at her? Is
it acceptable to accept Carnie Wilson and snub me?
God, I know I am saying this all wrong. But I just
hate to have one person patted on the back in public
and another being chastised. I under stand the
inspiration though. She is someone we can see that is really
there and we can applaud her weight loss all the way.

The other’s we hear from seem to be faceless people
and we have to just imagine what they must look like.
Thanks for writing.

Helen
Surgery 8-14-97 @

Dear Helen, I completely agree. I’m glad she is
getting the word out that this is not just an easy fix,
but its sad because someone in the public eye is
doing it so now its a fashion trend almost. When I told
my mom this week end she said so that’s what they
are doing now? I told a friend last night and she
asked me if I checked into it. Like I haven’t spent
hours and prayers on this. I really have not came out
of the closet as I don’t want to hear everyones
opinion on this, especially when most know nothing about
the subject other then someone who 10 yrs. ago did it
an almost died. Now I’m rambling. Good to talk to
you Helen. Love, Barbie

I seen the show she was on and I thought she
looked great it took me 1 yr to lose 127 lbs but I am
with her it changed my whole life I went from a size
48 jeans to a size 11,12. I wish I had it done years
ago it has been 5 yrs since I had my surgery and I
have gained back about 7 lbs in 5 yrs so thats not too
bad. Your are Carnie is a great insperation to all of
us.

who did it 20 years ago and lived. Even 10 years ago
they were futzing around with the procedure. Nowadays
they have procedures that work properly, procedures
with track records, and living people with success
stories to tell.

-Vic

How are you doing? I was so glad to see your
post. Its been alittle over 2 months since your
surgery. How have you been? Any problems and are you glad
you did it? If it wasn’t for you and Helen and some
of the others I doubt if I would have pursued this.
Thanks to each of you on this web site. You are each a
blessing and encouragement to me. Keep in
touch,Kittykat!
Love, Barbie

Hi Barbie, I hope your Easter was very nice. I
have been doing fairly well. I am still having one
problem. My mind still wants to eat the way it used to so
needless to say I’ve been getting sick more than I should.
Other than that I’m doing ok. I really am so happy that
you are finally going to have your surgery. I am
really happy that I had it done and I know that you will
be too. I have no regrets whats so ever. I did make
my mind though to stay away from parties or places
where there is alot of food. It’s much better this way
for now. Please take care and I will be praying for
you. God Bless Love Carol
