Questions about Gastic Banding

I have been over weight all my life. I am considering getting the lap band. Has
anyone gotten pregnant after getting this procedure done? Are there special
things to consider?

I went to my pcp this week to get my incisional
hernia checked out. It has been getting bigger, and my
surgeon couldn’t get me in for two months, so I just went
to my PCP instead. She said I definitely need to get
it fixed sooner rather than later, so I’ll go to see
a local surgeon next week. Has anyone else had this
surgery done? How bad was it compared to an open RnY?

What kind of surgeon did you have??? HE did and
incision on YOU and it is HERNIATING and HE can’t SEE you
for HOW long?? You need to run… not walk to his
door and say "what is the deal" and I would certianly
go and see a general surgeon now and get it fixed…
I would be very leary of your WLS dr for future…
this is a prime example where getting the surgery is
important for US… but getting a GOOD dr is also
important… because if that is what is going on OUTSIDE and
he is not concerned… I would be worried about what
is going on inside!

Good Luck and keep us
posted… I will be praying for you!
Cindy

Krysteenah,
I haven’t had the lap band. I had
an Open RNY last (7-13-99) year. I am however trying
to get pregnant. We are working with an infertility
specialist (I wish it were the same one we had when I was
trying with my second child).. My dr. said that it was
safe with my surgery. You may want to check with your
dr. about it. It all depends on the person’s health
not just the surgery. I wish you the VERY best of
luck! :)
Lisa B.
