Saturday, January 31st, 2004

Hi Everyone,
Happy Wednesday! I have Regence
HMO Oregon from the Oregon Health Plan and was
wondering if anyone had gotten approval for the surgery
from them. I would like to have Dr. Kenneth Welker or
Dr. Latham Flanagan do my surgery and would love to
hear some success stories. I could really use the
encouragement right now,.
Thanks
Jen

Hello everyone!

Friday, January 30th, 2004

I am 24, 260 lbs, and was recently diagnosed with
PCOS…the doc said that if i lost weight it would help,
although nothing I have done in the past before has
helped. my HB loves me at my size and really doesn’t want
me to lose weight, although he says he’d rather see
me lose some weight than die (he’s a real FA
btw)

The thing is that i’m not an idiot, and I’m going to
see the nutritionist at the doc’s office and I don’t
know what to expect. I know what I should eat and
exercise and stuff, but it’s not that easy, as i’m sure
you all know! I work f-t and we eat alot of
convenience foods which aren’t the best for us…but
anyways…I’d love to hear any advise or suggestions any of you
have!

thanks a bunch…and i’m glad to find a club where i
think i’ll fit in!
Crystal

Question for People in Oregon?

Wednesday, January 28th, 2004

Hi Everyone,
I’m Jen a college student in
Oregon. I have been researching weight loss surgery for
over a year and have decided to try and get approval
to have it done. As you might guess, being a college
student equals POOR. LOL I know I qualify for the Oregon
Health Plan and am in the process of applying for it.
Has anyone had success in getting OHP to pay for the
surgery? If so, how long did approval take? I’ve gotten
all my medical records together and written out a
detailed lists of diets I have been on since I was 7. I
stopped doing the diet thing a year and a half ago. I’m
5′8" & weight 375. My BMI is 57. I have depression,
stomach pain, heartburn, pain in all my weight bearing
joints, especially my back. Heart disease and diabetes
run in my family. I’ve been tested for diabetes and

When are you due?

Monday, January 26th, 2004

I would just politely look to them and say, "9
months or so after I get pregnant" and walk away.
Im
sure people arent trying to be rude by asking. Its not
their fault that we often look pregnant. They are just
trying to strike pleasant conversation and Im sure would
never try to intentionally hurt us or our feelings. And
im sure they even feel real bad when we tell them we
arent pregnant.
Of course, there are exceptions to
this. There are snickering socialites that would ask
this just to be mean, but Ive never encountered one.
Thank God, becasue Id be likely to push her down and
sit on her. hehehe
