I spoke with my doctor regarding this question.
If anyone out is interested in knowing if Medicaid
will cover this surgery, my doctor has informed me
that there is no precertification for approval, as
long as a person is 100lbs over weight; they are
preapproved for surgery.

So I am just waiting? I guess
until I have my Psychological and meet with the
Dietician and then I will be given a date. I figure it will
be sometime in September.? I hope so!

Open
RNY?
Pre-op 239

Cindy.Hi I new here. my name is Libby. I have
three insurances. Kaiser is my prime I have been told
that is takes up to a year for kaiser to aprove if
they even do.I have Kaiser Permente but I also have
medicare and medical so you mean if kaiser denies that
medicare and medical will pay. Do I need a denial letter
or what? What do you think I need to do? I am at the
beginning of the process. I have never been to orientation
yet but my mom had the RNY and lost 150 pounds. It
has been 3 years now and she hasn't gained anything
back. I want to have this surgery. But I am not sure
what to do. I don't want to wait a year. My mom having
medical and medicare only waited about 2 1/2 months that
is all. What do you suggest I do?

Hi there,
I really don't know all the ins and
outs.. but I have 3 insurances and my primary turned me
down... but my doc said "no worry, you have medicare and
medicaid and they WILL cover it with your current
situation!" So I never appealed the other insurance decision
and went with it! Good Luck,
Cindy
Open RNY
